,I ,- .- Q9 .0 ,.. A 'Os it fun' W - XS 'L' -K ff COIVUNE1 ATTRACTIONS Startled from our afternoon nap, too sleepy to remember where we are, we an- swer the ringing phone. Oh of course, now we re- member, Peterson's Hotel and the desk clerk, Ernie Witt., is calling to remind us the Bill Hurm Theater opens tonight, June ll, 1962. The feature is to be the sequel to 'Believe It Or Not, starring Loretto Montaine, Albert Jones, Stanton Newkirk, andMary Al1ceBrown, those tal- ented actors and actresses who have reach- ed the top. We hurriedly dress and go down to a delicious dinner of sausages from the Fritz Davis Meat Market. The door- man, Bob Coldiron, calls a'1'1erman cab for usg and, wonders of wonders, our driver is Victor Wells. Around the new Cawein building, past traffic cop Steffen j Xl-Fi'-,-, .- . 3 :Q dfirlf 2 fe- f I we soon reach the theater. 1 ' 1 Buying our t1ckets,we think we recognize the face behind the window-Oh yes,it's 1 Georgeanna Jackman who used to sell tickets at the Linden. Rhoda Boggs and Billy James sell us candy bars in the foyer. Well of all things, we find Paul Schuler and Paul Keppler still at their ushering jobs, and they tell us the beautiful theater was design- ed by our old friends Patty Schroer, Polly Warwick, and Howard Brown with mur- als by Thelma Burns. Until the curtains part let us listen to Stan Cook's orchestra and watch the people coming in. Oh look! that's Bernie Reid and Kathryn Herold-I mean Mr. 8: Mrs. Reid. That other distinguished looking couple is Mr. Sf Mrs. Everett Hoskins. She was Mary Lou Heitsman. They are at- tending the show to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary. ln the wedding party we recognize Dorothy Hathorn, Adeline Huelsebusch, and Dotty Fremgen who are escorted by men of their own choosing, ahem! There's Sophia Williamson in a- nother of those Olinger ensemblesg with her is Ginny Hoffman whose glamorous hair do is the height of fashion. Coming down the aisle on the other side is Patty Getz with the attentive Benny Watkins, and just behind them are those schooldag sweethearts Joe Mislovic and Edith Stleg- er. The lights dim, the music fades, and part,Howard Elder start as the curtains Schultz and Bill theprojector showing sports shorts. First we see the world tram- poline Champions. With expert skill Bill Apgar, Don Puthoff, and Chick Taylor de- monstrate a double backward halftwist midair somersault-very difficult to per- form. Now the scene shifts toa swimming pool in Beverly Greens where the annual women's meet is being held. Competing are our old friends Helen Haeckl, Boots Armen- trout, Eileen Overholtz, Sue Sams, and Miriam Furnier, cheered onby Marcia Heiser. Before we see who wins the golden trophy designed by Rocco Conese, the scene changes to a golf tournament. Tom Latimer, John Zoller, and Adele Wilson are playing while among the on- lookers are Shirley Barton, quiz-kid coach, Ed Schmitt, professional dancer, and Dotty Jo Antenan, Cuddley Toys de- signerg and Pauline Watson, laboratory technician. There'sTedSma11ey, collec- ting as usual-autographs this time.We catch a glimpse of Junie Miller on the next green Qsti1l?j trying to teacl Betty Michael to play golf. The short Lowenstein newsreel with Earl Van Horn as commentator shows Gov. Dave Schubert at the launching of Frank Frost's latest invention, an undersea freighter, whose captain will be Charlie Barker-he always liked to travel, we re- member. We miss the address given by Jo Hamblin the orator, because we are eves- dropping onBetty Brusch andEvalie Hicks audibly discussing composer Fred Gary's
