During recent months you have heard and read much about Sputnik, Space Travel, and Satellites. This has no doubt affected your thinking about the present, as well as the future. It should not, however, change your attitude towards life, except in a very positive manner. These new developments in science can be a source of great satisfaction in your future, if you permit them to be placed in their proper perspective. New jobs, greater challenges and im- proved standards of living should be among the outcomes of today ' s scientific developments. Whether or not these outcomes prevail over less desirable ones will be determined by you, the graduates of high schools in Hamilton, as well as over the land. The leadership our great nation and the world receives will depend upon your philosophy of living. I am sure that you can provide this essential help if you will practice democracy and religion as you have learned it from your school, teachers, parents and clergy. If you live as you have been taught, success is inevitable for each of you. Your School Committee and I wish you well in whatever you attempt and look forward to following your future accomplishments with pride. Congratulations and best of luck! 6 John H. Lawson Superintendent of Schools

Dedication We, the class of 1959, proudly dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Harold L. Herber. Dur- ing his four years at Hamilton High, he has gained the respect of all who know him. Through his unselfish generosity, he has taught and guided us with unfailing wisdom. We shall always remember him as a tireless, energetic worker, but most of all as a true and loyal friend. 5

There was a time when man accepted the dignity of labor and the satisfaction of a job well done. Our society has changed so that the emphasis is now on the dollar. One thing has not changed, however, and that is that success is tied to pride in the quality of the job that you do. Whatever you do, do it well, and success and satisfaction will be yours. Peter N. Coffin Principal 7
