He has spent much time with the class in helping us to make our decisions, helping with the Anchor, and the numerous other activities the class has had. We have worked, had good times, and spent many hours of discussion with him. He has done a great deal for us and equally as much for the rest of the school. First of all I have served an average ol' N50 hungry boys and girls per day, Secondly I have some brand new equipment which makes lilkl more pleasant for all concerned. My potato peeler can peel 100 lbs. of potatoes in about 30 minutes. These same potatoes can be whipped in 45 minutes. Just try and do that the old-fashioned way. My new dish washer can clean up all of the dishes in less than an hour. Be- sides that they don't have to be dried. Just seald them and they dry themselves. Another reason I have to be proud is of the fine student help I have seen this year. l have a total ol' 9 students working in me this year. Joan Teegardin and Marilee Ford do a fine job in keeping my records straight. Janet Fowler. Mary Baker. Larry Baker, Marcella Jaek, and Wava Cameron help keep me clean and in order. Then ol' eourse there is the all important job of the dish washer operator xvhieh is handled by Kenny Dirrim and others, Besides all of this I serve the best meals in town. But then. why f.l1ouldn't I when I have cooks like Vera Harger and Bernice Ham' man. To augment the band for the contest and the spring concert, seven member. were added from the junior band. The band began the year's activities by plaging for the Auburn street fair. march' ing in the parade and playing for free acts as well as giving two concerts. The band played in the stands for one baseball game and marched at six of the home basketball games, playing on the stage for the cthers. Roxie Shrider, Madilyn Heath and Wilma Dirrim participated in the district twirling cintest at Auburn in October, Roxie and Wilma as soloists and Madilyn and Wilma in a duet were given superior ratings. At the Band Contest at Angola on April 5 the band played Our Director , Sunny land , and Allan-A-Dale . ' gourd The Junior Band was formed this year to give players who are just beginning training and experience in band work before they are ready for the high schtol band. All players begin with privaie lessons during school time and are placed in the band when they have achieved a certain degree of skill. After they are in the band they still receive one private lesson each week. Several members ot' the Junior Band have already been promoted to the high scncol band. The band played tor a meeting of the Band Parents trganization Dec. 4, and for an all-school assembly April 4. Hamilton won by a big score in a triangle meet between Metz, P. Lake and Hamilton on the latter's home sprinting grounds. Hamilton also rc-mped over the Ashley Aces on the Hamilton oval in a dual meet that saw the Marines rack up a 100 to 29 triumph. The Marines placed third in a four school meet between Butler, Spenccrvillc. St. Joe and Hamilton. The Windmills placed first, S-pencerville, second, Hamilton, third, and St. Joe finished up last. Fremont won the 4th annual Steuben County Track Meet held at Auburn. Hamilton placed secondg Orland ran third, P. Lake, fourth, and Metz, last. Butler won the State Corner Conference Meet held at Waterloo. They won 7 and lost 3. A Coach Anderson had about 28 boys ranging from 8 to 13 years of age. The merchants and the Lions club bought two sets of uniforms for the leaglue. The Liens sponsored the older boys from 10 to 13. Their uniforms were white trimmed in blue. The junior merchants were from 8 to 11. They had grey uniforms trimmed in red. The little leaguers sponsored a Booster night to buy equipment for the little lcaguers and a new league, the Pony League, for boys from 13 to 15 years ol' age.
