Ellis Singletary placed first in the shot put Coach Coy Whitener with a throw of 54 feet, 10 and % inches The 440 relay team, consisting of Ellis Singletary, Bobby Oliver, Allen Hickey and Clifford Cooks broke the old state record of 43.8 seconds held by Hamilton County and set a new record with a time of 43.0 sec- onds. 118 1979 STATE CHAMPIONS Jackie McCloud tied the state record in the 100 yard dash and set a new record in the long jump.___________________ Coach Ron Hall The 440 yard relay team consisting of Hester Paul, Barbara Tucker, Debra Tucker, and Jackie McCloud set a new state record with a time of 49.3 seconds. The same team held the previous record of 50.0 seconds. Barbara Tucker set a new state record in the 110 low hurdles with a time of 14 6 seconds.
