10PO RElB HAMILTON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL Jasper, Florida September Again! . . . and the time for learning had once again begun; Summer had ended . . . We continued our learning among old faces and new, Willie Fred Cato J Harold Frank Green | Clarence Mitchell Hill Billy Elwood Renter Lynwood Austin Tipton 5S9 ? I ’ DEDICATION After much thought and careful consideration we reverently dedicate the 1970 REBEL to those boys from Hamilton County who have so unselfishly given their lives in the Vietnamese conflict. While we are taking part in sports events, academic studies and exjracurricular activities there are moments when , I we are conscious that much of our happiness, anticipation and hope for the future is made possible through their efforts. We would also like to include in our dedication those boys who are presently serving their country, and those who will serve in the future. Time Out! Togetherness! Mike Mann makes a grab for the ball Danny Sapp aims for two. Clarence Tucker takes a shot. The Big R fires one in! Tremendous - just one of many words which could be used to describe the 1970 Rightin' Rebel basket- ball team. With more than its share of talent and stamina and under the capable guidance of Coach Ray Rollyson, the team battled its way to a 24-4 season and the title of Class B State Runner-Up! The Rebels reputation spread quickly and wherever they went, they were looked upon with awe, respect, and just a little fear. Never tiring out, never giving up, never letting their success go to their heads, the Rebs made a name for themselves all over the state and brought fame to HCHS. They were truly champions in every sense of the word! 93 KNEELING: Donny Morgan, Greg Taylor, Don Burnam, Trammel Dees, Bobo Taylor, David Gayler. Bobby Hickman placed second in a field of 9 and John Dedge placed fifth. 97 DISTANCE and MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNERS Fightin’ Rebel Cheerleaders 98 The cheerleaders lead the fans in a yell at the state basketball tournament. AMELIA HUNTER MARGARET DOTSON ELAINE BRIDGES SUE WISE With high hopes and a lot of pep, the Big Red varsity cheerleaders started out on a new year, a year that turned out to be the greatest yet for the Rebels. The Rebels proved themselves in every sport, and the cheerleaders were right in there, lending encouragement when it was needed and praise where it was due. Pep rallies, the homecoming parade, those cold, cold football games, the long trips in the little yellow bomb, Daytona Beach and the send-off pep rally, the state basketball tournament, the tears of relief and joy that came after each hard-earned victory, and most of all, the happiness that was always there just knowing that the Rebs were happy! All these and many more memories will always be a part of the cheer- leaders. Happiness is being a Rebel, and knowing you 're cheering for the very best team. If you don't believe it, just ask a cheerleader. 99 Activities • - • % ‘‘The United States themselves are essentially the greatest poem . . .
