Dandelion Days All our dandelion days are done And so we'll run the fields no more In search of wild roses That grow out on the moor . All our dandelion days are done And so we'll turn our heads away From every silver morning And every golden day. But sweet September's open arms Belonged to us and held us once Remember when the summertime Sang songs to us and only us. All our dandelion days are done And so we'll run the fields no more For all the wild roses Have withered on the moor. DAWN YVONNE AUSTIN Torn but triumphant . CHRISTIAN G. BABCOCK I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensa- tional to read in the train. MARSHALLS. BABCOCK With every rising of the sun think of your life as just begun. DARLEE SARAH BALTUSNIK Happiness grows at our own fire - sides, and is not to be picked in strangers' gardens. STEPHANIE R. CONNOR Good day sunshine! She said to her friend with glee. If it pleases you. Would you care to come with me? I'm passing many mountains. Along a winding trail. To climb upon an eagle. And across the sky, to sail! 31 CATHERINE MARIE CUTWAY Nothing is impossible to the willing heart. ELLEN SUE DOUGLASS Unextinguished 1 a u g h t e r shakes the skies. CHRISTINE DRESSER If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears however measured or faraway. CHARLENE A. EGGLESTON She looked down to blush , and she looked up to sigh. With a smile on her lips , and a tear in her eye . hi DORCAS JEAN FAULKS Once in a lifetime a little bird may come Alone and forgotten, knocked by the sun Every man may choose to turn and walk away. Or take the bird into his hand and bid him stay. STANLEY ALLEN FISHER By nothing do men show their char - acter more than by the things they laugh at. STEVEN MICHAEL FRAWLEY I see the sun-light half a man's face. DOROTHY FULLER Always remember: face up to facts before you face up to life. WAYNE WILLIAM GALLIK An experienced, industrious, ambi- tious , and often quite picturesque liar. CHRISTINE SHAW GIBSON Even the children who played along the broken sidewalk have disappeared, and their hop-scotch lines are washed away. 35 JUDY ANN GILBERT The way to obtain future happiness is to be as happy as rightfully possible today. DAVID GEORGE GILLMORE He who hesitates is lost. SHAYNE CAROL HANCE Laugh while you can. Everything has its time. 36 KEITH B. JONES STEVEN N. JAQUAY As the French say, 'There are three sexes-men, women, and clergymen.' RICHARD KLINGENBECK I am convinced that the world is not a mere bog in which men and women trample themselves in the mire and die. Something magnificent is taking place here amid the cruelties and tragedies and the supreme challenge to intelligence is that of making the noblest and best in our curious heri- tage prevail. ALAN RAYMOND LAHUE Happiness is the only good, reason the only torch, justice the only wor- ship, humanity the only religion, and love the only priest MARK L. LAMB Do your deed, and know yourself. No one is second to himself. MEGHAN DARRAH LANCASTER Stomp on reality. Be what you want to be. Do what you want to do. Before reality stomps on you. 39 RONALD EUGENE MILLER If at first you don't succeed, laugh at hell and aim for the sky on your next try, LAUREL MAY MULLER What is love? Tis not hereafter. Present mirth hath present laughter. KAREN MARGARET NELSON Even now by the gate with your long hair blowing; And the colours of the day that lie along your arms; You must barter your life to make sure you are living. And the crowd that has come: You must give them the colours, and the bells, and the wind, and the dream. JERRY STEPHEN PHILLIPPS But don't stare at the mirror too long. . .Or you111 get cut by the pieces of splintered glass. BARCLAY WARREN POTTER There is more in this than meets the eye. JUDY ANN PURDY With love's light wings did I o'er- perch these walls. For stony limits cannot hold love out. 44 BRIAN GUY SMITH When you see a rainbow, remember that the sun's rays must strike water droplets and be refracted at an angle of forty-two degrees ... and see how much beauty you have lost . H. WILLIAM SNYDER By my troth, I care not; a man can die but once; we owe God a death and let it go which way it will. He that dies this year is quit for the next. DAVID JOHANN SODERBERG The circumstances of others seem good to us, while ours seem good to others. ROBERT KINGSBORO SOLLIEN Death, be not proud; for it was not thee who took the youth from the old man and killed him, but it was life. LINDEN DULANEY SUMMERS III Do you not know my son, with what little wisdom the world is governed? TERESA MARIE TUTTLE Two roads diverged in a wood and I— I took the one less travelled by , And that has made all the difference. C ROTARY FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENTS DEBRA JEAN PHOENIX There is an hour in each man's life appointed To make his happiness, if then he seize it. Aside from doing the traditional tasks of handling concessions and supervising the sale of individual pictures, the Student Council has revised the out-dated Student Handbook and started working on the possibility of having a Student Lounge . In order to create better relations with other schools, and to see how they function, the organization sponsored an Exchange Day with other schools in our league. Another project involved sending some of the school's old books to a poor Indian reservation in Arizona. With the helpful advising of Mr. Rikkola, the Student Council is accomplishing a great deal this year. 75 FIRST ROW: L. Summers, B. Howe, J. Evans, G. Zguris, SECOND ROW: D. Ludwig, C. McDonald, J. Frawley, D. Gillmore, B. Potter, L. Summers, D. Lamb With its first undefeated season since 1942, the Varsity Football Squad won the league championship for the first time since 1964. This year's team was probably the most all-around in many years, with both the offense and de- fense showing great strength all season long. The offense was led by Dave Gillmore, completing 21 passes out of 48 attempts for a total of 560 yards. Don Marcellus had 16 receptions for a total of 450 yards. In rushing, Steve Frawley had 93 carries for 401 total yards and Don Marcellus had 46 carries for an average of 9.7 yards per carry. Linden Summers averaged 6 yards per carry with a total of 32 6 total yards rushing. Bare Potter ran 4 6 times for 322 yards. In scoring, the varsity squad had seven players scoring in dou- blefigures. Don Marcellus led the scoring with 14 touchdowns and 92 total points, Steve Frawley had 30, while Dave Gillmore had 28. Bare Potter and Mark Lamb had 26 points, Linden Summers had 24, and Don Lamb had 12. Don Marcellus' 103 tackles led the defense, with 28 of them unassisted. Both Steve Frawley and Dave Gillmore had 16 unassisted tackles, Dave hav- ing 45 total tackles and Steve having 65. Dave Gillmore led the intercep- tions with three. Linden Summers had two and Don Marcellus and Bare Potter each had one interception. As a unit, the defense allowed only 8.6 points per game while the offense had an average of 32.2 points per game. Coach Lamb and Coach Rider spent a tremendous amount of time working with the team and deserve a great deal of credit for the, season's undefeat- ed record. Mr. McArthur also deserves thanks for his work with game sta- tistics. Next year's squad will lose a great many valuable seniors but there are many experienced underclassmen that will help next year's team. This year's J.V. football squad exemplified these two necessities in football. Although the team lost two games during the season, the two games they won were very impressive. Mr. Bowers, the coach, feels that the entire team will be an asset to the varsity squad next year. STEVE DAVIS - FULLBACK RICHARD KLINGENBECK - GUARD BRUCE BLOCKLIN - END BASKETBALL FIRST ROW: M. Starting the season with games against such powers as Albany Academy and Ithaca the Emeralds are well prepared for league games. The first line, intact from last year's squad, is among the league's best and after the first game the defense appears to be jelling. The loss of four starters will hinder next year's team but a strong nucleus will remain to assure another successful season. 106 SENIORS CO-CAPTAINS BARC TRACK FIRST ROW: R. Taylor, M. Migonis, S.
