SIXTH GRADE Mrs VVendel's sixth grade class has enjoyed many things this year In October we were asked to put on a show for Book Week After much searching we finally found the play ' Tell It to Mr Encyclopedia Everyone had a part in the show and many appeared as book characters Each student helped the other in planning and making the costumes We used paper bags old stock1ngs discarded clothes and masks Though we had a very good time in rehearsing and preparing we were delighted the most when the other grades told us they enjoyed the sl'ow too Since most of the children in class received pupnets as Christmas presents and interest in manipulating these characters fast spread like a contagious disease The March of Dimes campaign in January offered us our big opportumty We decided we would put on a pupnet show and all the proceeds received would go toward this good cause Besides having fun doing the show we had S12 74 more to add o the amount we had al ready earned doing odd jobs for those suffering with infantile paralysis We have prepared many projects in social studies and science We are learning how the other peoples of the world live and how they too are Our science shelf among other things his plant galls stored in glass jars We are waiting for the spring when th t'1 s and moths are hatching from their eggs and hoping that we shall see them burst forth The introduction of a Safety Patrol at school is giving us the opportunity to accept responsibility and also realize that a safe school is for the benefit of all those attending Mrs L.et.te's class was joined by several new rn mbers who had not been wxth us previously Our section started a class club with officers Nancy Westcott Charles Tegtmeyer DeWitt Randall, and Bill Mitchell When Charles moved Hank Sykes was elected as vice president In February we elected new officers Jane Shapley Joyce Pierson Brenda Thayer and Judy Moon We also have an A C U fAll Caught Upl Club Every one works very hard to keep his work up to date in order to remain on the membership list Our goal has been to prepare ourselves for seventh grade in responsi bility as well as in our subjects ll. 1 n ' ' - , . . . . . l I D . 5 I .
