3 5 if PHILLIPS CUSHING BROOKS, JR. Phil 34 Bedford Avenue Grade School: Spring Glen While in Hamden, Phil was secretary, a member of the band, Glee Club and senior dance committee. His interests are music, model airplanes, swimming and tennis. Next year Phil plans to go to prep school and later college. WALTER J. BROPHY, JR. Broph l59 Wooding Street Walter came to Hamden after having attended the Bernard, Abra- ham Lincoln and Dixwell Avenue Schools. His interests are swim- ming, hockey and yachting. While in Hamden he has been a mem- ber of the Swimming Club, hockey team, Dial Art Board and THE VENTURE Art Board. Next year Walter will go to Michigan or Notre Dame. JOSEPH FRANCIS BRUNO Joe 8 5 Rochford Avenue Joseph attended the Ferry Street School and Fair Haven Junior High before coming to Hamden. He played varsity football and basketball. and was manager of the baseball team, captain of an intramural softball team, vice-president of the Varsity Club and co-captain of the 1941 basketball team. Joseph is interested in history and sports. His hobbies are model planes and keeping a sports scrapbook. JUNE BRADY 20 Bradley Avenue June came to Hamden from Helen Street School. While in high school she was in the Freshman Girls' Glee Club, the Driving and French Clubs, and on the editorial board of The Cupola. Next year June is going to college, where she will study dietetics. DOROTHY LOUISE BRANDT Dot 31 Concord Street Grade School: Church Street Dorothy has been a member of the band. orchestra, choir and Driving Club. Dorothy was also the secretary and treasurer of the traffic squad and assistant manager of the circulation board of The Dial. .Dorothy's interests are sports and music. Dorothy keeps a sports scrapbfook as a hobby. Next year she will go into commercial work. TMI pa,-J' 'puff ELLEN LUCILLE BREE W 45 Russell Street From Spring Glen School Ellen came to Hamden, where she became a member of the Freshman Girls' Glee Club and the French Club. She is interested in reading and writing, and has been an active member of the editorial boards of The Dial, The Cupola and THE VENTURE. Ellen also likes walking, hiking and dramatics. Next year she plans to attend Albertus Magnus College. CLAIRE BRILL 7 Laconia Street Claire graduated from Helen Street School. Her activities in Hamden have been Girl Reserves, intramurals and Drivers' Club. She has also worked in the school bank and been a library assistant. Claire is interested in dancing, skating, bowling and swimming. Next year she will go to business school. WILLIAM BRILL Bill , 7 Laconia Street William came to Hamden from Helen Street School and his main interest has been in music. C21-W6 JOHN JOSEPH BURK Jack 98 First Street John came to Hamden from Dixwell Avenue School and while he has been here he has taken an active part in the sports program. Besides participating in boys' intramurals. he has been on the hockey team for three years and also on the boys' bowling team. He likes bowling. skating and swimming. His plans for next year are as yet undecided. WILLIAM ANDREW BUTLER Bill 28 Robert Street Grade School: Church Street Bill has been president of the Athletic Council and a mem- ber of THE VENTURE business board as well as being an active participant in the sports program. He has been on the track and basketball teams, has taken part in intramurals. and has been a member of the Tumbling Club. Besides sports he also likes current events.
