JM Q51-'DEN LEIGH HUNT, JR. 34 Lake Street Leigh entered Hamden from Putnam Avenue School. In high school he has been an energetic member of the student body, holding the position of editor-in-chief of THE VENTURE, as well as being vice-president of the senior class. He was also a member of the Bow Benders, the Photography Club, and has served on the sports staff of The Dial. Skating, swimming, and reading are his favorite interests. In September Leigh will enter Yale. BARBARA HAUSER Bobby 64 Woodlawn Street Before entering Hamden, Barbara attended Spring Glen School. In high school she has been assistant editor of THE VENTURE, a member of the editorial board of The Dial, and an active partici- pant in the German Club. Her interests are swimming, skating, and reading. She plans to enter Holyoke in September. FRANK ELLIS BUTTERFIELD Ellie 71 Augur Street Ellis was graduated from Putnam Avenue Grammar School. He has belonged to the Photography Club and the Pottery Club, and has been sports reporter for The Dial, vice-president of the Stamp Club, business manager of THE VENTURE, and treasurer of the class in his senior year. He is interested in hockey, baseball, and photography. Ngct year he plans to attend college. HERBERT KORTE Little Herbie 1650 Dixwell Avenue Herbert attended the Helen Street School. He participated in the Slide Rule Club, the Radio Squad, the Traflic Squad, and worked in the cafeteria. He was in the play, The Would-be Gentleman. In his senior year, Herbert was elected president of the class. His hobbies are collecting records, wood-working, and football. Next year he plans to train forxe job in radio or television. 1-If . QM be . XIQOXD THE CHRISTINE CRAIG Ruthie 57 Swarthmore Street 1940 Ruthe was graduated from Spring Glen School. In high school she has been a member of the Slide Rule Club, the Dramatics Club and the Swimming Club. She was secretary of the class for 1937, 1939, 1940, and served on the Prom Committee in 1939. Her hobbies are figure skating, sailing and tennis. Ruthe hopes to enter Wellesley College next year. -Page Nine 5 IW W' fy

AMDEN GH DOROTHY JEAN ADAMS Pudgie 35 Church Street Dorothy was graduated from the Church Street Grammar School before coming to Hamden High. She has been an assistant in the library and a member of her home room volley-ball team. Ice- skating is Dorothy's chief hobby. She plans to attend a business school after graduation. RAYMOND WEBSTER ALLING, JR. lfRay!I 2622 Whitney Avenue Ray came to Hamden High from the Spring Glen Grammar School. He enjoys dancing and collecting dance records and has been employed as a salesman for J. Johnson and Sons. After graduation he plans to attend a business school. RUTH ANN MARIE AMERO ' Sis 16 Linden Avenue Ruth was graduated from the Mt. Carmel Grammar School. She has been a member of the Girls' Glee Club, Pottery Club, and the Art Studio. Interested in all types of art work, she especially enjoys sketching and clay modeling. Ruth also enjoys reading.'She hopes to go into commercial art. STELLA AMERO Chub 16 Linden Avenue Stella was graduated from the Mt. Carmel Grammar School. She has been active in the Girls' Glee Club, Girls' Tumbling Club. field hockey. and the Pottery Club. She enjoys swimming, dancing, and skating. Stella plans to enter retail selling, which she has studied in high school. ARTHUR NELSON ANDERSON HAH.. 126 Wooding Street Arthur came to Hamden High from the Helen Street School. He has been a member of the band, the Pottery Club, and the Archery Club. Art enjoys all sports. His plans for the coming year are indefinite. Page Ten
