At Hamden he was active on the Football Team, Cross Country Team, and the Track Team. His hobbies are sports and dancing. The Little Man's plans for the future are undecided. NANCY ABLONSKY iGNan!, Graduating from Grove Street School in Ansonia, Nancy came to A New Haven where she entered Commercial. Her activities there con- 'N sisted of singing in the Freshman Chorus, taking part in the Sopho- n more French Club, and playing on both Freshman and Sophomore l Basketball Teams. Coming to Hamden in her junior year, she took 5 I part in Social Dancing, Intramurals, Needlecraft Club, and attended r H - l I -l Q, -I ,Y 3 1 W. 1937 the Forum. In her senior year, she continued her intramurals and added to her long list of high school activities, the Home Economics Club and Commercial Service. Nan's hobbies are many, her favor- ite diversions being dancing, swimming, camping, and reading. After raduation she intends to enter Ba Path Institute. E Y EVELYN AHRENS Evelyn was graduated from Helen Street School. At Hillhouse her activities were swimming and tennis. When she came to Hamden, she began to show her ability in leadership by being elected class secre- tary in her freshman year, and in her senior year, president of the Home Economics Club. Then she was chosen vice-president of the Junior Home Economics Club of Connecticut. She has been captain of the Contract Bridge Club, and a member of the French Club, and has served on the Sunshine Committee. Her hobbies are swimming, dancing, books, and badminton. She plans to enter Stone's Business College. RUSSELL ANDERSON Russ Russell attended Beacon Falls and Shelton Grammar Schools, and entered Hamden from Hillhouse High School. His activities in Ham- den were intramural sports. He likes to play pool and to travel. He plans either to get a job or to go to business college. FRANCES ISABEL ALLEN uF9s Frances came to us from a long, long way od'-Columbia, Mis- souri, to be exact. At her former high school, Frances was a member of the Writing and Dramatics Clubs and also was on the year book staff. During her two years at Hamden, she participated in the French Club, the Choir, Junior Girls' Glee Club, and the Forum, in addition to serving on the Editorial Staff of both The Dial and THE VENTURE. Her hobbies are reading, writing and associated subjects. She plans to enter college in the fall. Page Twelve .. .44

AMDEN IGH 1937 CARL VICTOR HANSEN asnaps When Carl was graduated from Spring Glen Grammar School, he entered Hillhouse High for his first and second years. There he be- came prominent in the P. M. Aero Club, rising to the presidency in his second year. Finishing his high school years in Hamden, Carl selected a varied number of activities to round out his program. He became a prominent member of the Theatre Guild and also enrolled in the Slide Rule Club. He then joined both the School Band and the Orchestra. He was chosen to he Editor of THE VENTURLL. Carl favors no one particular thing as his hobby because he likes anything as long as it's fun. He intends to become an aeronalltgica-lferrgineeae PEARL MARGARET LINDN ER Horan Pearl was graduated from Spring Glen School and came to us from Hillhouse. She joined the Chorus and the Girl Reserves in Hillhouse and also took up tennis. In Hamden, Pearl was a member of the Glee Club and Mixed Chorus. She was a member of the Prom Committee in her junior year. She was made chairman of the Art Board of Tub: Vt-:v1'mu:. Her hobbies are knitting, sewing. and sports. She is interested in commercial work. HENRY SMITH FORREST Hcn.ny', From the Spring Glen School Henry entered Hillhouse, where he was a member of the Aero Club, Choir, and Stamp Club. At Ham- den he was business manager of THE VENTURE, and active in the Radio Club and Chemistry Club. Henry's hobbies are radio and sports. He plans to study Chemical Engineering at Yale. DOROTHY MARION CLARK Doltie,' Dorothy attended Church Street Grammar School, entering Ham- den from Commercial High. Her activities in Commercial were the Biology and Tennis Clubs. Her Hamden activities include: Social Dancing, intra-mural Basketball, Office Practice, the Commercial Service Club, the Archery Club, and the Dramatic Club. She directed the clerical staff of Tum Vi:NTt'RE. Her hobbies are dancing, swim- ming, and tennis. She plans to enter Larson's Junior College. JOHN PAUL FLYNN J, P. John was graduated from the Putnam Avenue School whence he went to Hillhouse. During his freshman and sophomore years, he was a member of the Hockey and Baseball Teams. When he came to Hamden, he again joined the Hockey Team for both his junior and senior years. He was elected to THE DIAL Business Board, a job which carried through to his senior year. He was on the Prom Com- mittee in his junior year, and was the chairman of this committee in his fourth year. AMDEN IGH 1937 VIVIENNE ANDERSON ..ViU,, Vivienne attended the Orchard Street and Dwight Street Schools. At Commercial High School she was active in the Art and Cleo Clubs. She joined the Art Club at Hamden. Vivienne's hobbies are drawing, reading, and sports. She plans to enter the field of business or of arl. MARSHALL ANTONIO Mickey Marshall was graduated from the Dixwell Avenue School. lle spent his freshman year at Fair Haven .lunior High School where his chief activity was playing baseball. From Fair Haven he went io Commercial High School, where he spent his sophomore year, and then came to Hamden High. At Hamden, he has been the manager of the Cross Country Team. His hobby is playing baseball and taking part in other sports. Marshall expects to go into business after grad- uation. ANN .IOSEPHINE ARMSTEAD Ann was graduated from the Centerville Grammar School. From Centerville she went to New Haven High School, where she partici- pated in the Figure Skating Club. At Hamden she has devoted her energies to her studies. Her hobbies are horseback riding, dancing, and hairdressing. She plans on business for her career. OLIVE MARY ASPLAND Twidge Olive attended Helen Street School and Bassett .lunior High, whence she entered Hillhouse. At Bassett she was in the French Club and the Girls' Sport Club. Her hobbies are reading, dancing, and collecting toy animals. She hopes to travel when she is through school. MARIE ADELE ASTORINO Peanuts Marie was graduated from Helen Street School and attended Hill- house. When she entered llamden, she joined the English Literature Club and the Needlecraft Club. She was also the secretary of the Home Economics Club. Her hobbies are reading, ice-skating, and music. She plans to enter Teachers' College. Page Thirteen
