The game ended with Hamburg S-Monticello 72. The following week Hamburg met McGhee on their own field. The first sccre of the game came when Sawyer received a pass from Watson. In the third quarter Sawyer tallied on another pass. SENIOR BOYS' TEAM Starting the basketball season with onLy two letter men back, the Hamburg Lions ended a very successful season. Twenty- games were played during the season, but only nine were won. With 7er good coaching from Coach Stanford they defeated Crease?! 5:: the County Championship. Sawyer and Wctsomwere U D l t tn 0 O r. the A11 County Team. Kelley, Car- 'ngznbczham, Rogers, Holland, D. Giles and Bobby Riley. JUNIOR BOYS: TEAM l'izo tumor boys kept up their fine record by defeating Foun- :1::; H11 ; and Crossett in the County Tournament. Knight and 1:0th were placed on the All County Team. A tow of the Iuniors are ready for a position on the Senior Squad next season. The Iunior squad included Knight, Boyd, Barnes, Brown Sivils, Pounds, Dunn, Barhcm, Pinkston and Carter. The girls played twenty games, win- ning eighteen and losing only two which were lost in tourna- ments. The girls defeated Portland in the County Tournament and received the County Championship Trophy. Kelley. S. Riley and Courson made ihe-FJI County Team. The girls were defeated by Tiller in the District Tournament at McGhee a week later. Carpenter and Kelley were placed on the All District Teami After the resignation of Mrs. Fred Greeson the team was coached by Miss Peggy Belin. JUNIOR GlRLS' TEAM The junior girls basketball team, led by Captain Pistole, hdd a very successful season, winning all the game: played and tuk- ing the County Tournament, Ann Pintole, captain,- Iuynr: Inlay and Betty Venters placed on the All County Team. Playing on the Iunior girls team were: Pistolc, Riley, Powell. Godfrey, Tener, Venters, White, Winsteod, M. Kelley, C. Kilcrlvrxn, A. Kilcrease, Walden, Mac Donald. The Hamburg track team of 1946 included Watson, Sawyer, Riels, Meyers, Carpenter, Boyd, Riles, Burgess, Brown, Chapman. E The track team went to Monticello and entered the District x-- a . Track Meet. The runners that placed hrst and second places an tered the State Track Meet at Little Rock. They were Watson.
