POR1 VlSTS Due to the outbreak of the Kosovo conflict just two days before HALYBURTON was scheduled to deploy, the number of port visits was drastically reduced. Of course the HALYBURTON sailors remained flexible and as you can tell from the following pages they still managed to have a great time. After racing across the Atlan- tic at top speeds the crew enjoyed a brief stop in Rota, Spain. The stop allowed HALYBURTON to refuel and prepare for their upcom- ing participation in the Kosovo Conflict. The port visit also allowed (from 1 to r) STG3 Beuck, GM1 Shwartz, TM2 Goodman, and OS2 Lopez to enjoy a round of golf on the local base course.

Haifa, Israel ranked as one of the top port visits. It was the ship ' s last port visit in the Mediterranean before spending the next four and one half months in the Arabian Gulf. Highlights included MWR sponsored day trips to the Holy Land. FC3 Key (above) and SN Zamora enjoy the scenery in Jerusalem. In the Holy Land, sailors were able to visit the birth- place (left) and crucifixion of Jesus.
