Powell, Masterson, Hill, Toevs 880 RELAY TEAM--The 880 RELAY TEAIVI Compiled a very enviable re- cord this year. Their most note- worthy acconiplishments were firsts at the Emporia Relays, Hutchinson Invitational, Mid-Kansas Meet, Re- gional, and State. They won third at ttawa, the only time all season that they were defeated. While winning at the state nieet, they posted a time of 1:33. 6 to break their own school re- cord which they had broken three times previously. 'S 1, Toevs, Dielman, Powell, Hill MEDLEY RELAY TEAM--These four boys won the medley relay at the state meet in the time of 3:33. 9, a new school record. Although often com- posed of different boys, the medley team was a consistant point winner. They won at Emporia, Mid-Kansas Meet, and the State, placed second at Hutchinson Invitational, and Re- gional. Don Dick was the regular half-miler in the medley, but could not run in the state meet because of illness. TRACK HAROLD TOEVS--Harold Toevs was a sure five points for his team in his specialty, the broad jump, throughout the season. He leaped his all time best at the league meet. His jump of ZZ'9 3f-4 ranked him as the third best high school jumper in the state. Harold exceeded ZZ' on three other oc- casions. Compliments of MASTERSON' S STORE 36

Y-'PEE The Girls Club of Halstead was organized on October 7, 1919, by Mrs. Vernard. Between the years 1919, and 1924, the name was of- ficially changed to Girl Reserve and in 1947 to Y-Teens. The highlights of the present year have been Fall Conference at Ellsworth, and Mother-Daughter Banquet. Our activities this year included used book sale, Scrapbook for the Phillipines, World Week of Prayer, Waterrnelon Feed for the new girls, picnic for the Hi-Y, and Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter Assemblies. Sponsor again this year were Miss Nelligan and Mrs. Geist.
