TRACK 1955-56 The Dragon trackman enjoyed the most successful season in the history of the school this year. They won four major meets, the Emporia Relays, Mid- Kansas League Meet, Regional and State. The Dragon's state title is the first in the history of the school. The 51 112 points scored in the league meet was a new all time hi h for a Dra on team. Although the 580 and medgey relay teams and Toevs in the broad jump were the most consistant point winners, several individuals contributed much to the success enjoyed this season. Most worthy of these were: Daryl Dielman in the high hurdles and 4403 Jerry Hefling, mile, Dick Krehbiel, Javelin, Terry Masterson, discuss, Curt McDowell, shot and discuss, Jac Powell, low hurdles, Harold Toevs, 100 and 2203 and Raleigh Unruh, broad jump. Five school records were broken this year. Powell, Masterson, Hill, and Toevs ran the 880 relay in 1:33.6 at the State Meet. The medley relay team of Toevs, Dielman, Powell, and Hill won their event in 3:33, 9 also at the State Meet, Toevs' new record of 22' 9 3!4 was jumped at the league meet. Two other school records were set at the state meet. Although the performan- ces did not place them in their specialities, Jack Powell ran the low hurdles in 21,6 and Terry Masterson threw the discus 132' l 3!4 .
