' ' ' 1 , . . .5 1 I . , , 4 t ' no , A . 1 - - Q ' I . 4 - vv , ' ' ' , . , T , , . s 1 How a Senlor Looks X My 0 1 A 11A SM H Lzfe Hzstory of the Semor Class BORN Just happened EARLY LIFE Very happy for 1gnorance 1S bl1ss EDUCATION Partly by Mr Gerber partly by Mr Bennett partly by Mrs Lanter but chlefly by antithesis due to the assoclatxon w1th Sophomores SUCCESS IN LATER LIFE Very great as lndxcated by the fact that some DEATH No sxgn yet In 1946 seven httle xnnocents toddled up the path unsuspectlng of the thxngs to come Sxnce then there have been many changes All through the grades we encountered many ups and downs lncludlng measles mumps scarlet fever and Puppy Love but we managed to surv1ve Even though xt was qu1te a struggle we made the e1ghth grade up to standard Gur Freshrnan year started w1th an enrollment of f1ve L1nette M1l1er and George Welch were graduated from Huron Grade School and Charles Black Franc1s Rothm1er and Tom Wolters were graduated from Purcell w1th M1ss Beulah Wentz as our class sponsor The outstand1ng event of our Freshman year was our 1n1tat1on as found our selves eatxng red pepper and alum wash1ng each other s feet and sa1ut1ng the Senxors We recexved many bunips and brmses from the paddle w1eld1ng Sen1ors Class off1cers were elected and Llnette Mlller was chosen as pres1dent Franc1s Rothmler vxce pres1dent Tom Wolters secretary and George Welch treasurer Durxng the fxrst semester George Welch dec1ded that school wasn t the l1fe for h1m In February another shghtly browned Freshrnan Jomeo our Jolly class He was Fred Gardner of Faucett Mlssourx All the boys were members of the softball team Fred moved to Huron 1n tlme to take part rn the Freshman Basketball Tournament at Atch1son We entered our Sophomore year w1th four students and Mlss Ehza Scholz as our sponsor Off1cers of the class were Tom Wolters pres1dent Franc1s Rothmxer v1ce pres1dent Lenette Mxller secretary and Fred Gardner treasurer Franc1s Rothmxer and Tom Wolters were elected on the Student Councll Fred left the class m March when hls parents moved All members of the class ass1sted wxth the Iunlor 9 x X, I f 1 M' if I rl F I , - Sen :or Class Prophecy TIME 1970 PLACE Huron Hxgh School Carn1val The Junxor Class of 1950 were all present and they dec1ded to peek znto the crystal ball that had drawn so much attract1on that even1ng Each was trymg to see what Francls Rothrmer a graduate of 1950 was domg The followmg was what each saw Dorothy H1ebsch belng the fzrst to look mto the crystal ball sees Franc1s as a successful farmer He IS the one who taught h1s pxgs to smoke corncob pxpes and was the fmrst one ln hlstory to put on the market Fresh Smoked Ham He att rxbutes h1s success to h1s beloved w1fe who IS tw1ce h1s age and has helped Fr1tz make the corncob pxpes whxch enta1ls a great deal of work The task IS made eas1er as thelr two chxldren Oscar and Dora 3SS1St 1n thls great project Next Walter Sears takes a look He sees that Francxs has become the great est newspaper colurnmst of all txmes Not only 1S he the propr1etor of THE TOPEKA TRUMPET but he features a colurnn 1n the da1ly paper every day H1s colurnn A Lzttle Of Th1s And That IS read daxly by rrnlhons He IS known as the second Walter Wmchell As he puffs on h1S c1gar he proudly tells of h1s three g1rls and four boys two of whom stmll hollo Da Da In thxs Saturday column Francxs stated that he mtends to keep the newspaper buslness ln the farruly and no doubt he w1ll When Jo Ann Buttron looks 1nto the crystal ball she sees a clrcus she IS at tend1ng 1n Huron and of course she IS go1ng to all the smde shows and the major performance that evemng She entered the bxg tent and pxcked out a mce soft seat on hard pme and gazed at the performers 1n the center of the show r1ng To ed as a clown Stlll up to h1s old trzcks clowmng she told her fnend seated next to her As usual he was gettxng all the attentmon and she was determmed to talk to h1m after the show As they chatted he told her of h1s experzence slnce graduatmg from dear old Huron H1 F1rst to get the full beneflt of the expenence and because mt was the only Job open at the t1me Francxs was water boy for the el ephants Yes he was promoted and became the flown of the cmrcus He had a very lnterestmg personal 11fe He told her he was marrmed to the bearded lady and had ten healthy l1tt1e urchlns All fxve of the gxrls took after thezr mother and were al ready startmg to grow beards About that t1me the general flunkle came 1n and yelled Hey you clown lt s t1me for your second act F1l1ed w1th enthus1asm Fntz leaped to lus feet and as qulck as a flash he bounced to the mam arena and the crowd applauded Yes xt looked lzke Io Ann was clappmg as hard as anyone Let me take a look sa1d Vera Fultz as she leaned over the crystal ball She saw Francxs by a rrncrophone He has won fame over the rad1o Now for a long per xod of years he has been master of ceremonles on the Schmaltz Bumon Cure prograrn better known as the Puffed Feet Hour It s rather a corny program but Frxtz IS happy He has all the problems a ynarned man wnth fxve chxldren has H1s rad1o program keeps hmm so busy he has let h1s beard grow Tune m sometxme and lzsten to the man behmd ' at thmck beard The rad1o statxon'7 Oh yes xt s Statwn CORN l3 0 .
