There were seven boys and ten gfrls. June 1, 1951, eight boys and nine girls will graduate. We have had a large turnover through the years but the final count of classmates is the same as the first. Only f V0 of the seniors have attended Halstad all 12 years. They are: Helen, Rita, Gloria, Carmen, and Roger. KRusty missed two and a half years during the war, but got in on both start and finish I The last two weeks of our first year we all came down with chicken pox and that's the only time a 'chicken pox picnic has been held in the history of H In third grade we gained Rodney Oistad and Earl Holland, our fifth year Erman Ueland and Lowell Holm Through the grade tournaments we alternated be tween allowing the grades above and below to defeat us Our seventh year Verna Smith joined us We were all awed by high school and tortured at initiation too The highlight of the eighth grade was the addition of Darlene and Vangle Iszler and Warren Ehrichs to our class Fres men at lastl We were pleased with a few seniority privileges in the junior assembly and three more new members Joyce Aarestad, Maxine Oien, and Buster Thalacker We were initiated again, this time more thoroughly, however During vacation we spent some of our hard earned money on a class picnic at Oak Grove Park, Fargo As sophomores we had our turn at initiating the freshmen, but in the 1 run we suffered more than they We worked up two one act plays, nwildcat Willy and 'Andante ' We were very proud to have our candidate for Carnival Queen, laxine Oien, elected That spring we went to Itasca Park for our picnic and everyone had a wonderful time The soph more experience must have been a good thing, for our junior class play, You Can't Always Sometimes Tell, was a big hit We were rather disap po1nteH'w1tH our c ass rfngs We had chosen a ruby stone, but we received plain gold ones We have, however, grown to like them very much Again one of our candidates was elected This time it was Roger Stole for Carnival King In the spring we honored the seniors to the tune of nH1tch Your Wagon to a Star t a banquet and prom As seniors we got in on the revival of football and a homecoming celebra tion Roger Stole was elected captain of the team and Gloria NcAuley Hanscom ing Queen with Verna Smith and Maxine Oien as her attendants The annual and senior year have been lots of work but lots of fun too Now we are looking for ward to our class play and, possibly, a trip f Q ,.s GX fg-wiv ALwAYs Q 7, ,A Ni L1 Xf y 'rf H. s. n ' . . - Ong O .H a f ., 5 xx dk A X T f 'fm J ON 3 ' as N7 We W TIVAIE we L' X30 . - Q' H' I f Q Q19 Q x- 1 '. ins' , f 5,5 xff, E . 4 5 , VN N. Under the coaching of Larry McLeod, this year's team finished the season with a record of 12 wins and 5 losses. In many of these 12 wins this team was definitely the underdog, but because of their fight and will to win, they emerged victorious. With a lot of young and undeveloped talent on this team the Halstad High School can look forward to many successful years of basketball. 'A it Pa P I F5 'I i' Qu!! ':-1 K t5g! 3 ' Kai . The money that was made on these was used to purchase two registered Duroc gilts from Lloyd Spielman at Twin Valley. These two gilts were given to two members who are to give back two gilts each year to the chapter. This will, in a short time, provide the chapter with an adequate income. On December 5th they held their annual F. F. A. Parent and Son Banquet at the church parlors. The meal was served by Circle 5 of the Halstad Ladies' Aid, After the meal had been served, Mr. Johnson showed some slides of the various projects of the members. Each year two judging teams represent the chapter at the Winter Shows at Crookston. Last year they placed first at Crookston with both teams. The two teams were sent to Grand Rapids where they also placed first. From there they went to the state at St. Paul where they made a good showing. At the present time the F. F. A. is selling assorted greeting cards. The proceeds from this till be used to pay the expenses of the judging teams at Crookston and also for sending delegates to the State F. F. A. Convention held at St. Paul in the spring. ji :T l11I 1 2 3 I 1 J T 1 3 2 h W - s 'ef i a V V L I . v 1 H J, ' 5 A. Cyn WL W F. . A. 'A' Team Cheerleaders 'B' Team Cheerleaders 1 4?
