FOOTBALL HIGHLIGHTS The season started with heavy practice each night Then Coach Bill Oleson finally picked out his starting lineup with Kent iuller as quarterback, Vern Vannlce at halfback and Stan Falk at fullback, Dick Vannice and Ron Hotchkiss at ends, a1d Lyle rowell, at center, wlth Jerry Leeper, Herman Koontz, Cecil iamilton, Ray ualton, Jimmy Koontz, Danny Lane, alll Bayne, nddie uuakl fllllnv in wlth caoable ball The team journeyed to Lebanon for tne Ann al Jamboree, and lost a close and exciting game to the Shedd Cardinals 18 lh Then they traveled to Harrlsburg for a game with the Harrisburg havles Harrisburg outplayed the Pirates the first half, then Halsey came fighting back and had the edge on tne Laeles Final score was hh 28 During the game Halsey lost the services of Kent Fuller, who Finally at home, ibut just as well off awayl, tuey played nost to the Sclo Loggers Halsey never seemed to get goin , and therefore were massacred before tne Loggers Final score no l6 Next tae Pirates played uost to Shedd Vern Vannice carried the ball for over SO yards two or three times and plunged over for 5 touch downs and 2 conversions to pace ialsey to a no 12 wln Halsey snowed good tackling and blockln throughout the ame Then in the game with Brownsvllle they sloshed arourd through the mud wlth Stan Falk leading the way to a 31 6 wln The Pirates looked good all the way Halsey's outlook will be fair with only A Letterman graduating Halsey will also have new suits to clay in next year.
