On Sunday, December 30, 1979, we were graced by the special appearance of the beautiful singer and actress-Bar- bara McNair. She was invited to visit HALSEY by a handful of our attending officers the night before at the Subic Bay Officer's Club, where she was performing her dynamic holiday show. HALSEY was truly honored to have such a super-talented superstar cross the CG-23 quar- terdeck. This lovely lady relaxed for a while in the ward- room, where she won the hearts of all the officers, and then toured the ship, charming all hands she met. PECIAL VISITORS Any visitor or guest on board HALSEY is a Very Important Person. However, on several oc- casions throughout the cruise we really rolled out the red carpet and dispensed that special kind of hospitality HALSEY is known for to several Spe- cial Visitors. Admirals brought us information and praise, a singing star graced us with her love- liness, foreign dignitaries welcomed us to their countries, political leaders from Guam welcomed us home to the United States, and all left us knowing they had seen the best.
