History of the Senior Class of 1965 The original class enrolling in the first grade at Hallettsville Public School for the 1952-53 term consisted of twenty youngsters. They were Bobby Brown, Wayne Brown, Gail Buske, JoeCook, Paul Cook, Sonia Cook, Mary Dornak, Elaine Fertsch, Sue Garner, Leon Grones, Harvey Hlavac, Shirley Holly, Mary Jacobs, Leon Koehne, June Renger, David Roth, Mike Rother, Betty Svetlik, Gene Tesch, and Byron Zavesky. As second graders we were joined by Eugene Hinnant from George West. In the third grade Henri Mae Jones from Ezzell and Faye Stratmann from Hondo joined our class. In 1956, the fourth grade saw the addition of Fidencio Barrera from Sweet Home and Dennis Clements from Sheridan. Frank Pustka from Brown School joined our merry little group the follow- ing year, 1957. Our sixth grade year we were joined by Margaret Capak from Breslau and Nella Goode from Sacred Heart. Fred Pustejovsky Jr. from Sacred Heart joined our progressive group in our first year of junior high, the seventh grade. In the eighth grade, 1960, Fred Chovanetz from Sacred Heart, Milton Haas Jr. from Cleveland, Texas, James Murphy from Houston, and Kathy Novak from Witting became members of our class, which now numbered 33. At the beginning of our freshman year, Sacred Heart gave us Stanley Bucek, Jeanette Henneke, Gretchen Hoffer, Dennis Janak, Jerome Kocian, Joyce Ohnheiser, and Carolyn Sassing Ezzell gave us Roger Bishop, Weslene DeBord, Dorothy Honish, Bernice Jurena, and Ellen Pohl. Patsy Dornak, Marguerite Grahmann, Mildred Mozisek, came from Vysehradg Glenn Blahuta and Irene Gallia from Moravia, Carol Michalcik from Weimar, and Franklin Castecka from Witting. Billy Berger and Bobby Ragsdale also joined our class that year. Mark Gerlich from East Bernard, Lenert Heiman, Barbara Hrncir, and Vernell Konvicka from Moravia, and Elroy Sternadel from Missouri City joined our class the sophomore year. As juniors we were joined by Bobby Dornak from Sacred Heart. Our twelfth and final year of higL1 school saw the addition of Helen Travis from Karnes City. The 1965 graduating class of Hallettsville High School now consists of sixty members. 29
