Hall wins first round of regional play; Klug and Noll rote oil-conference team The 1984-85 volleyball ream consisted of seven returning lerrermen. The ream coproins were Kim Roroplus, Dana Klug, ond Dodie Noll. The ream was coached by Barb Srank ond Ramona Noll. The season began wirh a Red Devil victory ogoinsr Kewanee. However, the season ended wirh a record of 2 wins our of 20 games. The conference rules changed the winning margin from rwo our of rhree games, ro rhree our of five games. The Devils pur up a good fighr, bur were nor able ro overcome rheir compeririors. During rhe regional tournaments, Hall challenged Tonico ond defeated rhem ro advance and challenge Losranr, rhe champion, on October 26. This resulted in another loss for Hall, bur rhe NOC released rhe names of rhe players selected for rhe all conference volleyball reams rhor some day. Senior Dodie Noll was chosen for rhe second ream, and senior Dona Klug received an honorable menrion. The day was nor o rorol loss. Ar rhe annual Foil Sporrs Awards Banquet, Dona Klug was chosen as mosr valuable player. The mosr served poinrs award was earned by Dodie Noll wirh 190 Lorie Romey received rhe mosr improved player award. Wirh o sofr shot. Bertalot leading scorer for volleyball os Devils struggle to o 4-15 season A large rurn-our greeted Coach Stank for rhe '84 season. Blending rhe inexperienced players wirh lasr year's rerurning players inro a cohesive unir was rhe major goal of rhe year. Wirh determination they managed to pull our a 4-15 record. Major contributions were by captains Mary Berrotor and Becky Bernabei They worked hard all season even though their record didn't show it. Captain Mary Bertalot led rhe ream wirh her high scoring ability She was backed up by Becky Bernabei, Lori McDonald, Debbie May, Lisa Pettit, Carolyn Schwarring, Sue Vogelsang, and Lynn Wogner. Working together, rhe ream showed that they hod rhe skills necessary to defeat their opponents. The season gave each player more experience and confidence in a gome siura-rion. Wirh this under their belt, their hopes were high for next year.
