A group of 28 candidates began rhe long grind. A harbinger of Things ro come was q series of major and minor injuries. Untested Demons seoson optimistic squad supplies varsity replacements August rolled around and a small bond of sophomores greered Coach Zecca. Fourteen young men were ready to ploy football with fortification by a group of freshmen. After the initial practices, things looked optimistic. The underclassmen, though untested, seemed ready for an exciting season. The Red and White opened against Amboy The inexperience in the line was evident as the bod s rolled 24-0 The next two opponents, Dunlap and Marseilles, failed to yield a team; and the Demons were awarded 2-0 wins. Opening ogainsr Princeton, the ream played even to on 8-8 tie. Homecoming saw the Demons lose to Rock Falls in a close game, 19-12. Rochelle. Kewanee, Mendora, and Pontiac rolled by the frosh-soph squad. The learning process was evident os many sophomores were called up to the varsity during the latter part of the season. The offense was led by the running of Steve Koch and the passing of Aaron Campbell to Doug Domkuski. The defense was sparked by the hard tackling of Andy Wesrrum and Eric Turczyn. Although the 2-6-1 record is not impressive, the varsity will have good replacements for the graduated seniors.
