Under rhe beams of cor lighrs on rhe pracrice field, however, rhey pur rheir show rogerher in rime for rhe ISU marching comperirion on Ocrober 20, St- eaming o 3rd place in Ooss B ranks ond performing once again in rhe roin for rhe finds. Ending rhe foil seoson, rhe Red Devils hosred rhe Firsr Annual Red Devil Classic on Ocrober 27 where rhey gove on exhibirion show. Bogota sends Hall H.S. a student; climate is on adjustment for Vivian Directly off of a Columbio-boorded plane, Vivian Paz, Hall's foreign exchange srudenr, rook ro our American speaking counrry as a challenge. Having taken Spanish and English here or Hall, she hoped ro berrer her language and ro adapt berrer ro ours. Upon observing Spring Valley, ir musr hove been seen as a speck of dust in comparison ro her hometown, Bogora, rhe capital of Columbia, wirh a population of ap-proximorley four million. Among differences in rhe countries is dimare. From rhe region in which Vivian lives, ir is much warmer rhan rhar of an October temperature here. On many days while we were wearing our jackets and enjoying rhe days before Jock Frosr come, Vivian was found entering dosses well-equipped wirh mirrens and a scarf wrapped snuggly around her neck. Her visit here also gave her o special memory — rhe firsr snow she hod ever seen. Although Vivian was a senior and 18 years old, her return ro Bogora would find her orrending another year in her high school due ro differences in rhe school systems. Afrer graduating, she planned ro follow in her parent's foorsreps and srudy medicine or dentistry. In Columbia she lives wirh her parents, Dr. Abraham E Paz Cano ond Dr. Dhuvis C. Amador de Paz, her brother. Jose, and her Pekinese dog, Pinky. When she's nor or home, she's usually wirh her friends at rhe theatre, swimming, or enjoying rhe tranquillity of a picnic. During her stay, our visitor lived in rhe residence of Greg and Cathy McCook. There she gained an American brother ond sister, Casey and Tracy. Spore rime here was usually spent at parries, school dances, rhe moll, or wirh friends. Vivian was caught in a whirl of activities during Homecoming week. Her spirit, as oH spirit, gave Homecoming a boost. She rode on and helped decorate rhe senior float which read, Rod rhe Rodgers. To end Homecoming week, Vivian and her friends danced up a storm at rhe Homecoming dance. A rime musr come for all good things ro end, and Vivian was whisked away ro Columbia, a four-hour ride in a jet wirh one stop in Miami. Before her departure, a word of comfort come from Vivian, Columbia is a very prer ry place. Everyone can come visit me and stay in my house! The sounds of football, down-up-down-up, ler's go, hir rhe dummy, ger rhose legs up, dig in, drive, drive, come from rhe foorboll field. Conditioning began os Cooch Vicini began rhe rwoo-doy drills. A group of 28 candidates began rhe long grind. A harbinger of Things ro come was q series of major and minor injuries. Slowly rhe ream seemed ro round into shape Many players were odjusring ro new positions, bur Coaches Vicini and Smirh were pleased with rhe squad's progress; we were reody The season began ogainsr Amboy, rhe evenruol srare chomp Class A. The Clippers ran away from rhe Devils in rhe second half in o 37-8 win. Re grouping, rhe Dig Red rook on Marseilles and ourron them 34-12. Dunlop presenred o formidable foe. Led by rri-captains Tim Dominy, Vince Leone, and Mike Milosuski, Hall scored lore in rhe gome ro win 7-0 Mike Milosuski injured his knee, wirh rhe injury coming ar rhe worsr rime. Title favorire Princeron was rhe firsr ro fall rhe Red and Whire, wirh rhe Tigers rolling 41-7 Homecoming found rhe Rockers our opponents, and we were blasred off in a 27-0 gome ro spoil rhe festivities Injuries cur rhe ream ro os few as 13 healrhy players. Rochelle found rhe Devils for rougher rhon they hod been in several weeks and hod ro go ro overrime ro win IP-13. Kewanee and Mendora rounded our rhe conference season. Hall's final win came in o come-from-behind vicrory 7-6 ar Ponri-ac. Alrhough rhe season hod many heartbreak, rhe 3-6 season also broughr our rhe besr. Nine srarrers made rhe oil-conference NCIC ream. Named ro rhe firsr ream were Ron Prokup, Vince Leone, ond Ron Srarkey Special ond honorable menrion went ro Ron Brirrain, Mark Wilrse, Jim Francisco, Mark Lehn, Rich Rivora, ond Jon Wesrrum School awards were presenred ro Ron Prokup, Mark Wilrse, rhe George Boroski Award; Ron Srarkey, offensive player of rhe year, Vince Leone, defensive player of rhe year, WLPO Award, Vince Leone; and Tim Dominy, most valuable player. Brighr spors were rhe playing experience received by rhe juniors. Mony sophomores saw ocrion during rhe season and will provide a good nucleus for 1985.
