Demons Play Halloween Tricks A surprise greeted the group of freshmen as they reported for August practices. Hard work had been planned by Coach Boroski and Coach Becker. Bumps and bruises became a part of the learning experience. The season began on a successful note with a 20-20 tie with MDR. There were some problems, and work was begun to correct them. The next four weeks could best be described as a nightmare. The Red and White lost to Mendota, Kewanee, Amboy, and Rochelle. Several of the games were close until the fourth quarter. On Halloween the Demons played trick-treat and came away with the best of both defeating Sandwich 47-8. The twenty squad members had shown a desire to learn and improve. Teamwork finally paid off. The record of 1-4-2 was not indicative of the lessons learned. This will come as sophomores and varsity in the years to come.
