Valentine Dance Set To “Disco” Beat “Disco Style” set the mood for the Valentine dance on February the tenth. Early planning by Student Council decided on having Paul Sobin and his disco equipment for the dance. Student Council thought this would be more popular, as the dance craze had hit our area. Saturday evening, handsome couples, some seen in satin and velvet disco outfits, protruded through the doors of the gym lobby. Upon arriving, they received a red, satin rose and a chance to use the coat check. Music and flashing lights bounced off the walls of the gym and between the tables. Many couples sat and listened while those dancing got involved and showed-off fantastic styles. When the disc jockey played a slow song, the tables were cleared and the floor was filled with people dancing. The night progressed on and some poor feet and legs began to ache. Couples began to pick up their coats before leaving, and left knowing they had lived through at least one “disco night in their life. Paul Sobin, the disco master, watches the students dance, as Janinc Jasper listens to the music. Seniors show off some of their fancy disco dancing. The refreshment stand was a popular place throughout the evening, as Gary Piotrowski and Diana Lipinski sample the mint candv. Sweetheart Dance 21

Drama Club Stages Different Production Hall High School Drama Club conceived a unique presentation for this year’s spring musical. The production was entitled “Backstage on Broadway” — a tribute to Broadway’s best musicals. The cast was composed of thirty-eight students, and included members of all classes, freshmen through senior. Paul Sobin arranged the technical aspects of the play, while Rich West directed the entire cast. Choreographic designs were composed by Linda Causa and Theresa Donna. The show included solos, dance routines, and all cast members. The entire production, which was organized by the drama club advisor Miss Barb Kotte, contained songs from such musicals as: Annie Get Your Gun, Cabaret, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, Man of La Mancha, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver, West Side Story, A Little Night Music, Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, and A Chorus Line. Community response was excellent, and the project was enjoyed by all. The production revealed the many areas of talents at Hall High School, and it demonstrated to everyone what can be achieved with effort, cooperation, and dedication. Wishing for riches, Brian Victor describes his new life style. Girl dancers portraying nurses, sing “I’m gonna wash that man right out of my hair” from the movie “South Pacific”.
