It’s No Superstition; Homecoming Is Lucky Homecoming week was a busy one which kept the student body facing a challenge each day. Homecoming was scheduled for Friday the 13th, and the float theme was “Superstition . Students prepared through the week decorating floats, practicing skits, and getting “fired up” for the pep rally. Activities began on Tuesday, T-shirt day. On this day students and faculty dressed in T-shirts representing themselves. Wednesday saw the coronation of Queen Jeanie Schultz and King John Matthews. Thursday arrived with spirit day activities out on the football field. Last minute preparations were hastily completed for the parade and pep rally. The Student Council sponsored a disco dance. Friday morning the varsity cheerleaders served the annual “Breakfast of Champions” breakfast. The climax of the week was a 22 to 8 victory over Rock Falls. Friday the 13th proved to be a lucky night because it was the first homecoming game won since 1973. Saturday night, couples relaxed at the “Everlasting Love” homecoming dance. The week was exciting and a memorable event for the entire school. The sophomore football team gets a post-game pep-talk after their win over Rock Falls. The exit door reflects dance-goers in the lobby as they get their pictures taken. Homecoming 9
