Kenneth Baker Presides Over Student Body Under the leadership of the president, Kenneth Baker, the Student Council organ- ized many traditional activities and some special proiects. As usual, the Council pro- moted school spirit by selling ribbons, but- tons and license plates. They sponsored a door decoration con- test and a float contest for the homecom- ing game. The Council also presented skits at pep assemblies and the pep breakfast. They won several awards for the year, most notable of which was the J. M. Cook Trophy in the City Beautiful Contest. Two Saturdays were spent by members in clearing the student parking lot of silt and trash. Also, members published the student directory and provided a tele- phone call to Wales as a Christmas gift to Hall's foreign exchange student. The Council sponsored the Multiple Sclerosis drive by showing films to the physical edu- cation classes on the importance of the dis- ease, and encouraged everyone to con- tribute money. To get more students involved in the school, the Student Council placed sugges- tion boxes in various locations throughout the building so that students would have an effective means of giving ideas, sug- gestions and criticisms. Student body officers were also mem- bers of the Principal's Cabinet, an organi- zation dedicated to serving the needs of the student body. lt was made up of the Council sponsors, the vice-principals, and the principal. The primary goal of the cabi- net was to provide a good means of com- munication between students andthe administration. Many suggestions that were presented to the Cabinet became school policy. wi- -5-:iff .ua Kenneth Baker - Student Body President ss, sg 1 1, f , T 1 l l l 4 I Arthur Pruitt - Student Body Vice-President Sponsored by STUDENT COUNCIL
