When asked why she likes to dance, she replied, L'With a challenge such as dance, I can set my goals and further pursue them. She plans to pursue dancing as a career and would like to attend the School of Arts or the University of North Carolina or some other university and major in dance and something else. She comments, I do plan for dance to play a strong part of my life in the future. She has had many experiences but says her most memorable one was injuly 1985. My partner and I took a first place trophy home. It meant so much to us because we had worked so many hours in sweat and pain. She also adds that practice makes perfect and perfec- tion is what she is striving for. AN EXPRESSION OF LIVING ART characterizes Michelle Allen and her award-winning talents for dancing. When all was said and done, LOOK WHO CAME N NUMBER O One year after a season of close losses during the regular season, the conference tournament, and the state tournament, the varsity boys prepared to erase memories of what may have been. The goal was met as they united in claiming the conference championship, the first solely owned varsity boys' basketball title since the 1974-75 season. igh expectations anced about the campus, the ommunity, and even the con- erence. Word sneaked out that alifax possessed the pre-season ick for the Carolina Academy 'onference varsity boys' title. Most of us had played together ince the ninth grade and 'junior arsity, and we knew each other ell and had team unity,', emarked Ronnie Keeter. As a esult, the predictions grew, espe- 'ially after two strong opening erformances. A poor shooting erformance added to the revious year's horrors as the team ripped in the conference opener t Hobgood. Call it 'ithekjinx con- inued. Remarkably, Ronnie eeter called that loss the most emorable regular-season game. 'It woke us up.
