MI It gives me a headache, replied Mrs. Loretta Conner, school secretary. Her quick response ex- plained a problem that was beyond the administrations control. As the enrollment increased, many students registered at the begin- ning of school. Consequently, a book shortage resulted. Quite commonly, students found themselves sharing textbooks while teachers attempted to maintain sanity during already ordinarily hectic opening days. To complicate matters, other schools that experienced shortages demanded service from the suppliers, too. With such demand, the task of re-ordering almost be- came impossible. Eventually, orders were filled. In the meantime, however, the demand for paper skyrocketedg students and teachers learned more than ever the value of a handout.
