Not only was the program open to boys this year, but girls were also able to participate. The major purposes of the program were the building of character and the teaching of basketball fundamentals, besides competition. One of the student leaders, Ronnie Keeter said, HI like working with little kids and teach- ing them things they don't know. Fifth-grader Mitch Hales added, Not only do we have fun, but we learn the importance of good sportsmanship. The program, sponsored by the Guidance Depart- ment, was beneficial to both advisers and participants. FUNDAMENTALS OF SHOOTING are demonstrated to Saturday moming basket- ball participants by Ronnie Keeter, a student leader of the program. Grades 6-8 III

6' fi M 1 I! Read all about it. From September 27 through October 3, a book fair was sponsored by the fifth grade for students in grades K-7. The book fair, held in the school cafeteria, turned a profit of 2152873 this money was put toward classroom purchases. A huge assortment of books along with posters, calen- dars, tapes, and a variety of other items were available. The whole experience was fun for the children, and it also motivated them to read more for pleasure and to develop skills, stressed Ms. Harlow, chairperson of the event. THE DISPLAY OF BOOKMARKS captures the attention of Anne-Marie Chichester and Elena Williams.
