efore I came here, I heard that people here were snobs. Now I know better. I like this school better than any other school I've attended. Terri Chichester But we kno better It's the same old story. A person expects one thing and gets another. If any transfer from another school is asked what his impression of Halifax Academy was before he came and then what his impression was after he settled in, the answer will reveal a difference of opinions. Standing on the outside and peering inside, the outside focuses on the shiny red Corvette, the silver Firebird, and the pretty car with a dealer's tag and a sticker price still glued to the window. On the other hand, the insider sees his 1968 Camaro or someone's mother's car dented on both the left and right fenders. He even prays that his car will start after school so that he can make it home III Inside Story HELPING T0 MOLD THE 0UTSIDER'S VIEW, Tommy Wright prepares to head to class and leaves his red Corvette to grace the parking lot image. THE CLASS RING BROCHURE holds the attention of new student Michelle Allen while Patrick Qualls discusses his ring selection with Herff-jones representative Mr. Tommy May. for a break and back for football practice. Furthermore, the insider soon prides himself on being a Viking. The spirit of caring and a unique sense of togetherness that go with the smallness makes the place spe- cial. That sense of togetherness goes beyond school activities and often creates a false impression. I thought Halifax Academy people felt they were more important than other people. Now I understand why, explained Stacy Coggins. People, especially the teachers, are more interested in you here. Only when outsiders get the inside story can they know that Halifax is almost just like any other school.
