And so-one stage of our life completed-we say goodby to Halifax Academy. Four years have left their natural out- ward and visible symbols upon us . . . we trust that those four years of friendly and democratic associations, of mental discipline, and of spiritual quickening have equally left those signs ofan education in the American tradition that will become obvious only by their fruits: future vocational competence, patriotic citizenship, social understanding, and conscience. Each of us faces the immediate future in his own wayg however, we all share a common bond. This class of Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-Six, more than any other, is dedicated to the United States ofAmerica, and we pledge ourselves to uphold the ideals of our nation throughout the rest of our lives.
