D ' 8 H . iwiiwi iferaJidMi A1 Sf A RE D ' 88 MEMORIES Years from now we ' ll look back and wonder how we could forget all the good times everyone has known. We ' ll wonder why we wanted it to end; why we all said we couldn ' t wait to graduate. So to remember all the friendships, all the romances, all the closeness and all the good experiences, take a look through these pages. A teacher must cultivate a young mind through knowledge and understanding. She must be dedicated to her job, taking no avail to the hardships involved, but rejoicing in the simplicity of a young smile or mischievous grin. Our staff would like to dedicate this year ' s Havala to a woman who embodies the true spirit of teaching. A person who has proven herself time and time again through her dedication, understanding, and support. The 1988 Havala is dedicated to . . . Mrs. Elizabeth Nix. Classes Jenny Gllland, Faculty Editor As we recaptive another year in the pages of the 1988 Havala, we remember all the good times, the bad times, and the I-could-have-died times. These memories should come back to life as you flip through the pages of the hfavala. The 1987 Lions have scored there last touchdown, great season guys, the cheerleaders have cheered there last game, the band has played Louie Louie for the last time, and the year is coming to a close. Among these unforgetable memories are those early school morn- ings, the Lady Lions winning the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, and the beauties of Leo ' s Loveliest. We will also remember Little Miss Christie and the chaos of the new lunch schedule. All of these memories will bring a feeling of togetherness among all students. The Havala Staff of 1988, sincerely hopes that this edition of the Havala, Simply Reid Memories, will help each student to remember all the fun and excitment at Haleyville High. GOOD LUCK SENIORS . REDAP 20 Through the ages, man has delved into the mysteries of a dark and infinite universe, his lust for knowledge insatiable. However, first there must come the child whose soul is a canvas awaiting a fatal stroke. The teacher must take this raw canvas and create a masterpiece of human form and intuition. The teacher must mold a human being from the clay of youth. The nexus to every horizon , a crossroads marks the turning point in each Senior ' s life. Behind, there are the winsome frolics of youth, but the future in all its unending glory, awaits to bind us to a life of challenge and responsibility. It is a time for laughter, sorrow, but also intense excitement. The drama has reached its climax, a silence moves through the crowd, and now it is time for the final curtain call. 29 I I Eddie Beck Trad Blllups Clyda Boyd 32 Barry Burleson Jennifer Burleson Lance Burleson 33 Tammy Burleion Kl - L ■B L w John ChambllM Judy Cagle Stephanie Cartee Steve Collins Susan Comeens Shane Cook 34 iitr 1 1 nl Wendy Cooper Brad Cornelius Joe Crittenden Melanie Crumpton H k 1 B k K. m f . 1 t yl -.r- M F Mm m6 1 i i Carla Crane Chris Cummings Angle Defoor Donna Dodd Malinda Dodd 35 David Forester Danny Flanagin Aaron Fletcher 36 Carol Guthrie Judd Harbin Mark Harrison 37 Tammy Jones ' (■i. ( :i ' i.( Mi Kevin Kershaw Jennifer King Gary Lambert Stephanie Leatherwood Kim Long 38 :v Jeff McDonald UsaMcl Donald ■H ■Wi 1 B i J Hpi HUH ■. 1 i r K ' v f 1 r Kevin McGough Darlene McKlnney Denlse McKlnney Christine Landers 39 Christy Undley Tina Mayhall . :f : ' w: J - Mi ■] i 1 ■L2 Sheri Mlze Kyle MlUer ■lli i Theresa Mumer Melissa Newell Renae Newell 40 ■■Hl SBp -i PFm H 1 V ' ' ' M i K B . ■kI Ha ' P L r ' P ■L • t JA; K; ' J mr A mt - ' n B i |b ' 1 Wm W i R t d Cindy Nunley B M ili Beth Pugh Jason Pulliam Cecil Reynolds 41 Julit Sherr Jon Short Chris Sims 42 Kevin Tomlin Randy Trimm Jeremy Turner 43 !
