Hi! I'm Kathy Kelly, editor of your 1959 Havala. Are you wondering why I'm standing here like this? Well, this year the staff and I are all set to take you on a guided tour of Haley- ville High via the Havala. We feel that in order to show you every part of H.H.S., a personal you and me tour by the Hav- ala staff would be the best way to do it. First though, introductions are in order. l'd like you to meet the little fellow standing next to me. He's Leo. You caught your first glimpse of him on the Havala end sheets as Leo spans the heavens, and, throughout this year's book you will meet him again and again as he attempts to help guide you through our own Haleyville High School. The staff, Leo, and I have collected all the high points of this past year and put them into print and pictures so that you might have permanent memo- ries of 1959. Of course, it was a tiring, year-long iob lwitness the circles under our eyesj, but we feel that every headache, worry, and sleepless night will be rewarded when you come to the end of our guided tour and realize how truly wonderful H.H.S. is. Exciting moments like win- ning the Russellville football game for the first time in six years, the glitter and excitement of the prom, the' ever-awaited graduation, everyday happen- ings like your English class, fill- ing out a Who's Who ballot, and your locker sticking when you have one minute to make a class, all these are included as only a small part of this book. So, if you're ready, so are Leo and I, let's turn the page and begin to iourney through Haleyville High . . .
