Sen zor Play On Thursday and Friday evenings December fifteenth and sixteenth the Senior Class of Hale High School gave a most finished performance of the hilarious three act farce Everybody s Crazy The play under the capable direction of Mrs Whitney Ferguson of the faculty was given in the Stow Town Hall The young people were exceptionally well cast and entered into the spirit of their roles The play centered around the acquisition of a so called haunted hotel by three young university men played by Roger Derby Dorrance Leard and William Hibbard The comedy roles were carried by Daniel Enneguess Ruth Stiles and Betsy Derby while the hotel guests seeking buried treasure and mineral water cures were joan Annett Alice Dexter Virginia D1P1etro Elaine Drechsler joanne Hartley Frank Vodoklys and Franc is ll arren john Makey served as messenger boy while Donald Colleton as the gho t proved to be the cause of the hotel s bad reputation Between acts musical numbers by Barbara Nelson Francis Macomber Louise Lawrence and Marjorie Warren were enjoyed their make up problems and Mr Harold Priest assisted the stage committee Donald Colleton and Carol Colby served as prompters john Makey was general manager Jean Curtis Beverly jokinen and Virginia Stewart of the junior Class served as usherettes while Margaret Schmelzer was in charge of the candy sales Alexander Gray and Richard Salmon sold tickets at the door Glee Club The Glee Club under the able direction of Mrs Ruthj Drescher sponsored a concert on April 28 1949 in the Stow Town Hall The program consisted of many choral numbers and special features including a baton team from Lowell High School The proceeds from this concert enabled our Glee Club of 37 members to participate in the Northeastern Massachusetts Music Festival held at Newburyport on May 7 1949 During the morning program at Newburyport our group sang two numbers ln the afternoon we attended a musical program of approximately 25 high school bands and choruses in the Newburyport High School Stadium Jumor Prom On May 6 1949 t'1e junior Class of Hale High School held its annual prom at the Stow Town Hall The decorations consisted of blue and white streamers forming an arc over the center of the dance floor while the stage was cleverly decorated with a white picket fence and flowers The music was furnished by Carl Tideman s four piece orchestra from Framingham Massachusetts and was greatly enjoyed by everyone present We should like to express our sincere appreciation to all those who helped make the prom such a success 29 Mrs, Clifford Martin and Mr, Barclay Tatler assisted the young people with
