How- ever, they won the dual meets from Yorktown, Carmel and Katonah. The team also placed fourth in the mile relay at Penn Relays in Philadelphia. While at the Hudson Valley Relays held in New Paltz, the Haldane team placed second in the Class C mile-relay and fourth in the 880- relay. Bernie Burdick set a new Class C record with a high jump of 5' 8 1f2 . Eddie Englebride won the Class C pole vault with Burdick placing third. Also at New Paltz, Richard Hawks ran se- cond in the 180-yard hurdles final. After being Champions for four years, the Haldane Track Team was nosed out of first place in the annual league meet at Yorktown by Carmel and placed second. In the Section I Class C meet at DePew Park, Peekskill, the F.E. Bellows High School of Mamaroneck placed first, Irvington second, Carmel third, Haldane fourth, followed by Croton, Yorktown, Katonah, and Red Hook. Thus ended a fair track season for the Haldane Track Team who held second palce in the N. W. P. C. L. BOYS' INTRAMURALS These boys play seasonal games such as touch foot- ball, basketball, volley- ball, and softball. They are divided into teams and compete with each other. Mr. George Ellis is in charge. ARCHERY CLUB Students in this club are taught to shoot correctly, then proceed to shoot on a competitive basis with other members of the class. Miss Audrey Hickman is the instructor. STUDENT COUNCIL The Council's duties are to see that the various rules are carried out, and pass- ing on fund raising activi- ties for school clubs and organizations. The club is advised by Mr. Madison S. Forde. LEADERSHIP CLUB The Leadership Club pre- pares students in the pro- blems of taking office in any organization, and giv- ing them experience in what is to be done when in office.
