LT. MOODY When Mr. Butler was trans- ferred off Korea, Mr. Moody as- sumed the job of Executive Officer until that post was taken over by Mr. Booth in Naples. While serving in that capacity he exhibited excellent abilities in organization and planning. Upon returning to Newport Mr. Moody was among those who obtained a transfer to very de- sirable shore duty-civilian life. He now resides in Maine with his wife and 'infant son who was born while we were on our cruise. LCDR BOOTH Mr. Booth joined our staff of officers' in Naples, Italy, taking over the unenviable job of Ex- ecutive Officer. He calls Cara- way, Arkansas his home and at- tended Arkansas State College, graduating in 1942. Since re- ceiving his oommission he has served on the SAVANNAH, WISCONSIN, PUTNAM and on the staff of COMWESTSEA- FIRON before reporting to the HAILEY. flu I .. Pu .ls LCDR BUFORD A. BOOTH All

The Captain Captain Hall, though new to the HAILEY and her crew at the start of our cruise. has demonstrated to one and all his abilities as a destroyer skipper. Much of the success which Captain Hall attained with the HAILEY can readily be at- tributed to varied naval experience. Since he was commissioned in I94O, Captain Hall has served in the following billets: Gunnery Department, USS MIS- SISSIPPI, U. Naval Academy Line School, Executive Officer, USS FURSE QDD 8825, Commanding Officer, USS KLIEN- SMITH QAPD ISM, Navigator, USS MISSOURI, Bureau of Personnel. Our skipper has served in the following military campaigns: U to Iceland Atlantic Patrol, Aleutians Campaign, Marshall Islands Campaign, Gilbert Islands Campaign, Palau Islands tlinnpaigng Philippine Island Campaign, including Battle of Siragao Strait, and the Okinawa Campaign. He was authorized to wear, Bronze Star Medal with Combat V , Navy Unit Com- mendation ribbon awarded to USS MISSISSIPPI, Pacific-Asiatic Theatre rihbon with eight engagement stars, Aimerican Theatre ribbon, American Defense Medal with clasp An, Philippine Liberation ribbon with 2 stars, Victory Medal and the medals and engagement stars which we earned in Korea.
