As we finish one experience we begin another, in order to gain more knowledge to meet our final goal. This ends a small sequence of our life but only to give birth to a new career. A student nurse is born. The first words we hear are help me and our first steps are taken down that long corridor leading to patient care. As we grow our head is filled with knowledge and un- forgettable experiences, which help develop our character and nursing skills. Our three years have passed and graduation is finally here. We are no longer student nurses, but graduate nurses. After graduation we go on our separate ways, some toward further education and hospital nursing, and others to have their own families. Wherever we are or whatever we ' re doing we all live for the future, when once again we are reborn . 9 ' I M WK OHO OIPdUWlM! ip .1 Dedication Being a parent or guardian is often a thankless job. The job started when we were infants and you nursed us through the toddler stage. As we tried to walk you were always there to pick us up when we fell down. As we struggled through all the frus- trations of school you helped us with problems we were unable to solve. When we became adolescents you had reason to worry even more. As we chose a career you gave us encouragement and helped us in every way that you could. When we were stu- dent nurses — you listened to our week ' s frustrations that continued for three years. Now, as graduates we would like to thank you, our parents and guardians, for the patience and understanding you have shown us over the years. With all our love, we the Class of 1971, dedicate this yearbook to you Our Parents. cfi- z)f2£cLaL Inank Ljou We first saw Mrs. Kistler the day. we entered this school. As time went by we got to know her, some more than others. Upon completing our first nine months of study she presented us with our Hahnemann cap, stating we must wear it proudly. As a special gift to each of us, she gave one red rose. Mrs. Kistler has been as much a part of our training as that cap or rose. She is no longer with us at Hahnemann, as she has retired after ten years of service to the school. To Mrs. Kistler from the Class of 1971 we would like to say, Thank you for all you have done for us and we ' ll truly never forget you. Mrs. ItlMhi (, kislltr. K.V. lis. Mary E. Schlosser, R.N., MSN. Director, School of Nursing Dear Graduates: May the ending of student days mark the beginning of a successful career. Success will be yours if you live well, laugh often, and love much. Plan your future in such a way that intelligent men will respect you, children will love you, and the elderly will admire you. Appreciate earth ' s beaut , look for the best in others, and give the best in you. These are the ingredients which will help ou make the world better than you find it and make your journey through life an inspiration. Then, your memory will be a benediction for all who will have passed your wa . God bless and keep you always! 7 w f A ie Mary E. Schlosscr, R.N.. MSN. Director of School of Nursing Hospital Administration Charles S. Paxson, Jr. I especially appreciate having an opportunity to greet the graduating class this year because it is the first class graduating under the direction of a new administra- tion for our School. As the medical profession moves forward in its never ending quest to conquer disease the profession of nursing has changed and will continue to change to more effectively meet our patients ' requirements in the changing environ- ment of scientific medicine. The ferment of new values, new concepts and new meth- ods will continue to challenge you to greater efforts in the practice of your profession. My sincere congratulations for your achieving of this your goal, and my warm personal regards go with this expression of hope that each of you will enjoy many years of service and receive deep satisfaction from your service in your chosen field. Sincerely yours, Chas. S. Paxson, Jr. Vice President and Administrator Nursing Service Seated: Miss Elspeth Anderson, Director of Nursing Service. Standing: Mrs. Ruth Bressi, Associate Director of Nursing Service. Congratulations and Best Wishes to each one of you of the Class of 1971. You have achieved one very important goal in your life. This has not been accomplished without sac- rifice on your part. As you enter into the nursing profession the ideals you have set will be tested man) times. It is hoped that these tests of time will re-affirm those ideals that have been achieved these past three years. Miss Elspeth Anderson R.N. One of the most important phases of maturing is that of growth from self-centering to an understanding relationship to others ... A person is not mature until he has both an ability and a willingness to see himself as one among others and to do unto those others as he would have them do to him. HA.
