IGNORING for a brief moment t Fie trials and tribulations which have occurred during our three years of training, we pause to count the bless- ings received — some unwittingly, and more often than not, unknowingly. The one blessing nearest our hearts, which no one could possihK overlook or fail to appreciate was the guidance of Miss Bernice I. Kent, our class adviser. We first met her as director of the U. S. Cadet Nurse Corps here at Hahnemann. It didn t take us long to discover that here indeed is a friend when in need. Perhaps her keen understanding of our problems, and we did have them, can be attributed to her specialty. Pedi- atrics; however, we know it went much deeper than mortal science. Already adviser to Student Council and Newman Club, we were indeed proud and grateful when she willingly agreed to sponsor our class as we hesitantly ventured into the business enterprise of graduating. We deeply appreciate her untiring efforts to make all our undertakings successful, but what would not succeed with Miss Kent as principle participant. Therefore to you, Miss Kent, we wish to dedicate this book, our final opus here at Hahnemann, a very inadequate way of saying THANK YOU. Jitcati tan Miss Bkrnki I. Kim. Class Adviser

Miss Esther R. Grant, Director of Nursing Service and Principal of the School of Nursing j URING the past years we Americans have been trying to attain world peace and security. Now that the mortal combat is over we find it mandatory to work hard— harder than before to maintain that for which our boys fought. For the past three years our class, along with many others, has tried to ease the suffering and anxiety here on the home front. We have been looking forward to the day when we could put on a white uniform and could go out into the world as professional women to aid in obtaining peace of mind and body for our fellow men. As we come closer to that goal we wish to pay tribute to those who have made this achievement possible. One in particular we wish to thank. Through her innate honesty, lair and impartial judgment and sterling character, she has been a guiding influence during our student days. She has instilled in our hearts the desire to help others and uphold the standards of our profession. In this year of 1947 as we leave behind us many happy memories, we wish to thank with true sincerity our Director of Nursing, Miss Esther R. Grant.
