Dedication As time flies on its eternal and widespread wings and the class of ' 45 slowly begins to unfold its own, we halt on the threshold of the future, ponder for a moment and gaze backwards. There it stands — our Hahnemann. It holds for us many memories, the most precious of which is that of Miss Maude E. Calhoun Lyle, our former dean. With the greatest re- spect we wish to dedicate our book, the Vigil, to her. Our garden of memories is sweeter and richer because of the true inspiration and high ideals which came to us through her. From her sympathy and understanding, as well as example, we were able to catch a glimpse of true nursing. She left to us as a heritage the memory of true leadership, honor, unselfish loyalty and undying spirit. And when the stream that overflowed the soul was passed away, a consciousness remained that it had deposited upon the silent shores of memory, images and precious thought that shall not die and cannot be destroyed. RENA D. MOORE Acting Director of Nurses Shortly following our entrance into Hahnemann we were intro- duced to the new Director of Pedagogy, Miss Rena D. Moore. Through our )ears here she rose from that position to Associate Director, and upon the death of our Dean. Miss L le, became Acting Director. This position, assumed during the wartime situation, was more than adequately fulfilled by her sound judgment and stability. In following years we will remember that which she so profoundly taught us — tolerance, foresight, and responsibility. It is with deep sorrow thai this class says farewell to one who has so befriended us.
