Amid the turmoil, chaos. glamour and excitement ol a modern and progressive world one too hecomes vaguely and emo- tionally conscious ol the laclc ol happiness, and l am humhle and dillident in oltering you a philosophy ahout it. This tact l do lmow, the road to happiness must he traversed hy you yourself. No one can travel the road lor you nor can anyone hring happiness to you, lor it is derived from things with- out yoursell and from qualities within yourself. lxfly happiness during the past two years has resulted from the study ol your lives and your affairs, from your conduct during that period l have concluded that you have acquired a philosophy ol good will and Courage that will enahle you to lace life with interest, enthusiasm, faith, hope and a desire to serve: thus you clearly realize your own individual welfare depends largely upon your contrihution towards the hetterment ot humanity. Undoubtedly the question arises in your mind what are the essential things in the quest of happiness? In the words of Stevenson I may answer uThe world is so full ot a numlaer ol things we should he as happy as kings. Among these I would mention religion, music, art and nature. ln one at least you should Find a great deal ol satisfaction, hut above all l will advise you to lceep out of the urut of standardizatiormf' he not afraid to thinly your own thoughts, live your own lives provided you do not menace others.
