He insisted that the gym floor be correctly refinished. Mrs. Inez Miley, school secretary, keeps the grease added and the school cogs turn smoothly. All of the new students are taken in warmly. Many participate in athletics with basketball and football as the leading sports. Beto Club The Beta Club is composed of students who have at least a B average, are at least sophomores and are approved by the other members. This scholastic club sold ice cream for funds to finance the annual convention trip to Atlanta. Delegates Jesse Manning. Members have participated in the annual fat cattle show, the dress .review, the greased pig contest, and the annual calf scramble contest. For any student that lives on a farm, it is an ideal club, with many projects and games to enjoy during the 4-H year. The Chevelles composed of Gordon Morrow, Kenneth West, Charlie Merwin, Gra- ham Fiveash, Danny Johnson, Alex Martin took third place with their rendition of the instrumentals Venus and Bulldog. District Play, Antic Spring This one-act play presented by Hahira High School in district competition placed third. The comedy about three couples on a picnic was filled with the antics of Linda DeLoach as Gwen; (Linda is not pictured below but her understudy, Faye Durst is. ATHLETICS Cheerleaders At home or away, the six girls below were always there to cheer their team on to victory. Sponsored by Mrs. Regina Sharpe, their ethical code is of the highest and their untiring efforts of the liveliest. They decorate the goal posts before all home football games and they await time out periods to gain the floor and cheer for the hard playing of both basketball teams. This is the best record for the HHS foot- ball team since football came to HHS four years ago. Ed Craig, tackle, was named to the All State B football team. Other Tiger players were mentioned favorably in the pages of the state newspapers. Next fall the Tigers will compete in the new 1-C West Region and are considered a definite contender for the title.
