PROPHECY This was a great uay in my life. I, Louise Hoi son, was returning to ray home town for a vacation from ray job as a typist in Washington, L. C. For the first time in ten years the class of '51 was having a class reunion. As I stepped off the train I quickly noticed th.re had been a rreat improvement in our little to.m. llajira was no longer a little town, but a great city. I walked a short distance; then noticed two young fellows, dirty and hungry, sitting beside the track. To ray astonishment, I reco $nized them as Johnny Tucker and Bobby McMillan. I remoraber that when we were in school they had bragged that their one ambition was to be a bum. They succeeded. I walked over and spoke to them; they mumbled and 3obby pointed toward another train coming into the s t .i t Lon. I looked in the direction where 3obby had pointed and to my delight I saw Betty Jeah Johnson, Lornice Forte, Lucy Mae Parker, Lucille Cowart and Jeanette Plaire alighting from the train dressed in their stiff white uniforms They looked happy as any five could be who had succeeded in their chosen career. Wait! I overlooked two young men in wnite uniforms. It was Melton Watson and Jack Weaver who are now famous doctors. All of us exchanged greetin s and walked on recallIn; our school day to ether. Suddenly, a :reat li ;ht blina.d us for a sec net and when we could see a :ain «ve «ore staring at the neon 11 hts of the beautiful Park Theater now owned by Kenneth Lavender. Kenneth was out front welcoming his guests to the premier of that foolish movie, Harvey , starring that romantic actor, Clarence Wilson Me discovered later that Kenneth not only owned the Park Theater but that he now controlled the Martin chain and was a millionaire. He lets Mr. Charlie Nelson in sometimes to see a free movie. Kenneth offered to show us his theater and when we stepped in the door «e heard a lovely melody being crooned by a familiar voice. It was that woman stealing Clarence Alison. Jane flyman and Wanda Hendrix were in a swoon at his feet. When Clarence saw us he rushed over and greeted us with a handsome continental bow. After a brief exchange of greetings Clarence asked us to remain for his now movie. His performance was excellent and the story was humorous. After the movie we decided to walk around in this new city and see the sights. We walked down to Massey's Drug Store which had been remodeled by Bobby Lee Hall, civil engineer. •Ve entered throu 'h doors that opened themselves and were greeted by Robert Sumner of the United States rmy, Terry Hall and Eugene Coppage, both wearing Nar v lfo ri3. About this time Bobby Lee Hall strolled in end on his arm as always was Pae McLean, his secretary. . e invited them to join us on our tour. We walked down Lawson Street and saw a tall building I remarked about it and Kenneth said it was June Downing's football stadium where Johnny Merwin was head coach. Johnny's team had won every game they had played including a game with Notre Dane. Kenneth added that Wallace Piolds was the star fullback. We went in to invite them to Join us and discovered Janet Roberts and Wanaa Bennett as their bookkeepers. He all went outside and to our delight we saw a beautiful streamlined car with Vernon Cain at the wheel. He asked us if we wanted him to take us out to Donald Bass's farm in Snake Nation. He were delighted to ride in Vernon's jet propelled hot rod convertible. Vernon said be had promised to pick up some more of our classmates and we would have a party at Donald's. As we whizzed through town I caught a glimpse of a large builuing. I asked Vernon what it was. He said it was Robert Martin's and James Shores' air plane factory. He said he would pick them up at their office. Iffben we got there Laverne Gornto, stenographer, and Edward Coppage, bookkeeper, came out with them. I've never seen a city ao beautiful and right in the center of it was a beauty shoppe. Bernice asked Vernon who owned it and he replied Lois Gassett . He got out and went inside. Vernon phoned Edward Redding at his vocational school to be sure that he was Joining us at Snake Nation. He soon stopped at western Union. I asked Vernon rfhy are we stoooing here ? He said, Shy didn't you know, Etheridge Coppage ownes it now ? khen Etheridge came out we told him how proud we were of him because Mr. Delbert and everyone did not think he would ever have a career of any kind. As we finally came close to the edge of town I saw a long row of small white cottages. Vernon stopped at the first one. He did not have to ask who lived there because an X-Ray machine was plainly visible through one of tne windows. Sara came out to the car as Thomas bade her goodby from the door. Me cruised up to the next house and Mary Dene Stubbs came out. She gave a little call and from the next two houses came Florene Forte and Frances Wise. I was very glad to see how happy they were as neighbors. We drove on for several miles and finally reached the city limits. Vernon then picked up his speed and we were cruising along at 100 miles per hour. I saw a large building and asked Vernon what such a big building was doing so far out of town. He said it was Charles Cole's bee factory. We stopped and picked up Charles and his bookkeeper, Raymond Mixon. Well, I guess you are wondering what happened to Jerome Register and Kenneth Drew. They own a plantation near Donald's, and rode over to Join us in their limousine. Charles Cornelius was at Donald's doctoring a sick horse. Charles is the greatest veterinian ever known in history. Larry Fry had gone to college and had caught a train straight on to Donald's farm. We had a wonderful reunion and this may come to pass ten years from now.
