The H6lifk6IZ'f6 1942 SENIOR CLASS HISTORY lane Anthony ...... .... V ice-President lack Grossman ....... ....... S eczetary Elizabeth Koliopulos. . . ......... . ..... Treasurer Harry Hoch .............,.......................... Pres1dent The finger of Time has written for years the history of many classes. Now, Time is about to inscribe another name-The Class of 1942. i ln September, 1939, we entered the Hagerstown High School. As silly little sophs, we felt very strange and slightly bewildered. During the first months We were still identified by our former junior high schools, but as this feeling of competition lessened, we grew more con- fident and devoted our energies to all channels of our new surroundings, and not in vain. Be- fore we knew it, we were Seniors. Now an accepted feature of H. H. S., we began to distinguish ourselves. In athletics, luniors were found on the football, fieldball, soccer, basketball, track, and baseball teams. The Dramatic club production, Kind Lady, boasted a lunior in the title role with four others of us in the cast. The Glee Club also drew its talent mainly from the lunior class, and we belonged to or held offices in thirteen other school organizations. Here we pause because we are loathe to record the last lines of the class of '42. Although the sky was clear as the year began, on December seventh the storm broke. War clouds over- shadowed all school activities, many of which were canceled. We had no Glee Club Op- eretta, no Field Dayg the baseball schedule was miserably broken up, school curricula were altered to meet the changing conditions, rationing broke up class schedules,-civilian defense activities predominated. So with commencement overshadowed by an uncertain Future, the class of 1942 closes its record with the hope that each member will fulfill his individual destiny. 1141
