SlENlOR CLASS Randolph Mason Rhoda Finn Betty Plack Marcia Hart President Vice-President Secretary Treasurer O History After a summer of doubt and dread co-mingled with anticipation, we, as the sophomore class of 1937, marched timidly up the steps of Hagerstown High School. After considerable hesitation about entering the clubs, athletics, musical organi- zations, newspaper work, and other activities open to us, we finally decided to participate in them. As the year wore on, we decided that we were not really so unimportant as we had thought, and began to feel that we were, after all, a very necessary part of the school. The sophomore chorus was outstanding in the glee club production, Hooray for Romance. At the end of the year, most of us were feeling quite self-satisfied with our new-found prestige. In the fall we came to school with anticipation for the fun we knew we would have. Now we were juniors and were in a position to look haughtily down on the new group, the sophomores. Had we ever been sophomores as timid as they? It seemed incredible. Still looking with awe on the senior class, we dreamed of the day when we would be in that high and mighty position. After we gained our long-awaited place as seniors, we were happy to accept the responsibilities and privileges. During this year, we took a more than usual interest in the activities of the school. We were well represented in athletics, dramatics, the glee club, orchestra, and practically every other organization of the school. The senior class play, What A Life, was a great success, as were all the other productions of the year. As we relinquish our position to the oncoming juniors, we challenge them to surpass us in bringing honor to Hagerstown High School. The Heiskelite 1 94 0 -5.-
