Page Six Studtj lioiirs ' Learning Together Our years at H.H.S. ha ' e been spent primarily in learning together. We appreciate the opportunities we have been offered in our wide selection of (nit- standing classes. School is often thought a dull place, but this is far from the truth at H.H.S. We A e been fortunate to ha ' e teachers and facilities which make our classes come to life; manv of our classes are rated quite higlily in the state. The academic outlook at H.H.S. has been and is very challenging, worthwhile, and interesting. Page Seven Playing Together At the Hop ' Students at H.H.S. enjoyed many varied acti ities to- gether. Throughout the year, each student participates in many co-curricular activities from class projects to club ac- tivities. In anv organization, there must be good followers as well as good leaders. At H.H.S., the clubs help the stu- dents develop the qualities of leadership and responsibility that will help them very much all through life. Through activities, we at H.H.S. learn to tjet alon better with each other and to become well-rounded indixiduals. Page Eight Hcdicnhj voices ' Page Nine ' Reaching for our goals ' Page Ten Winning Together ' Two bits, four hits, six hits, a dollar Under the direction of our coaches Mr. Hunter, Mr. Hamman, Mr. Showalter, and Mr. Nichols, our athletic teams held their own on the floor, track, and field. Our golf team won the sectional tourne ' and was a great favorite to win the state. Records were broken in track as old names were replaced by new. Although our football and basketball teams lost man ' Seniors from last vear, the • shared in many ictories. Page Eleven Where ' s the jeep? Living Together Life at H.H.S. leaves many memories for each student: The ringing of that long awaited bell, standing in the cafeteria line, running between buildings in the rain, seniors rushing for the first row of bleachers for pep sessions, studying in the library, hoping to make next six week ' s honor roll, semester exams, Christmas vacation, sectional tourney, class plays, prom, and graduation. Then smnmer acation arrives and one must sav good-byes to old friends, especially the seniors with their yel- low cords, and teachers. The teachers at H.H.S. are the greatest that any school sys- tem could have; all the students are grateful to them. Page Twelve ' ' Eat, drink and be mcrnjl Page Thirteen i rr:  - . W LEARNING TOGETHER . . . Shop About one fifth of the students in our school attend shop classes. Thirty-eight boys from the eighth grade and fifteen freshmen work under Mr. Peters ' instruc- tion in the wood shop. Mr. Sedgwick teaches thirty -three students in me- chanical drawing and blueprint reading, thirty-eight in machine shop, and thirteen boys in advanced shop. Owing to the generosity of the Perfect Circle Corpo- ration and Breese Brothers Sawmill, the class needs little or no financial support from the school, a fact of which the students and teachers are particularly proud. We are ' erv fortunate to ha ' e such a fine shop. Page Sixteen Upper, First row, left to right— Mr. Sedgwick, Mick Coiicli. Second row, left to right—Steve Da ' is, Wendall Dale, Phil turra . Tlie Scouts certainly liye up to their motto, Be Prepared. More of us should try to follo ' their motto and keep in mind their slogan, Do a Good Turn Daily. ■e all should commend the Boy Scouts and Explorers on the fine job they are doing in their ' ork for the better- ment of the communit Faye Forty-one Student Council The Student Council is a new school service organ- ization. Members of the Council were elected from each home room. The Council serves as a sounding board for student opinion. Students and teachers may go before the Council with suggestions for the im- provement of the school. The Student Council is not a legal body and cannot formulate school policy; how- ever, it is continually working for the betterment of our high school. Library Assistants and Office Girls The assistant librarians are kept busy in our new library signing and sorting books for all of the students. In addition to the new ]ibran we have a new system; everyone is assigned a library card and this has to be used when signing out a book. A notice is issued as a remainder when vour book is o erdue. Our office girls are kept busy gathering all of the attendance slips and keeping records. Running up and down the stairs on errands and being receptionist is not hard work, and the girls will ha e to admit tliat it ma - come in handy later on in life. Page Forty-three ' Cw k- til Lj Band The band this year proved itself one of the school ' s most aluable assets. In their new uniforms, the Golden Tiger Band presented arious half-time shows durino; the football and basketball seasons. Tliis is the first vear tliat there has been a separate Junior High Orchestra, and thev have presented se ' eral half-time basketball shows. The band has also presented three concerts and taken part in the regional contest. Page Forty-five First Aid This year ' s first aid class, taught by Ted Sedgwick, ]ias had an advantage over the classes in the past by having a room to themselves where they can keep their equipment and practice their exercises. Tliey have fixed up first aid kits which we all agree come in handv around the school with all our accidents. Page Forlij-six Junior Red Cross Under the guidance of Miss Helen Frum, the Junior Red Cross has sponsored many worthwhile projects during the vear. The J.R.C. Council is in charge of the enrollment drixe at the first of the year. The members of the council worked on gift boxes. They also pro- ided entertainment for hospitals and made tray fa- vors for patients. The big e ' ent of the J.R.C. year is the annual Junior Red Cross arietv Show. Here, tlie students are able to exhibit their talents for a worthy cause. With or- ganizations such as the Junior Red Cross in our high school, we are assured that our school is doing its part in making a better community and world in which to li e. j.R.C. We seniors worked long and dil- igently, planning, setting up, and decorating for the carnival. The parade at noon was a eoloiful spectaele enjoyed by all. Huge banners were earried by the Seniors ad- vertising the various booths. Moonlight Cruise The 1959 Junior-Senior Prom, entitled Moonlight Cruise ' was held May 8. We worked long and hard to prepare the dance for juniors, seniors and guests. Many hours were donated by our junior class in the preparation of the dance. The week before prom, swished by leaving us in a daze. We all felt as if things would never be ready; last minute calamities left us in a frenzy. But finally, the creation was completed. We exchanged our paint-smeared, dirty levis for excitinef formal wear. Page Si.vty-foi(r We were swept into the ante-bellum period of our histow bv an enchanting Moonlight Cruise. Silhouettes of Southern gents and belles greeted us along the way. A shimmering crystal chandelier highlighted the dancers, enjoying the music of Don Meredith and the Diplomats. Taking us on tlie cruise was a gigantic blue and white showboat, ' e will all agree that Moonlight Cruise was a memorable event which we will ne ' er foreet.
