These are the people who have made our school such a wonderful place. ' Our progressive, highly mechanized and ex er changing economy is character- ized by the highest standard of living known to any civilization. Our phe- nomenal success is essentiallv due to democratic America's belief in an educa- tional system which provides an opportunity for every boy and girl to obtain an education. Our local School Board composed ol' -lames Stewart, Presidentg Voyle Allen. Secretaryg Leonard llershauer. Treasurer, Herbert Doerstler, Dean Parsons and Frank Xl. Cory will soon turn over to this school community a new modern ele- mentary school building consisting of thirteen classrooms. auditorium and stage. clinic. special education and teachers room. and principal's olhce with an inter- eommlmication system. This building contains the conveniences which go with modern school construction. Time marches on. XVith the completion of the elementary project the School Board can give special attention to other current problems which are a part of a long-range plan. Page 'l'wr'nly-law MR. The Class of 1957 is the smallest for several years, hut the most precious materials are often in the smallest packages. Although the class is small in size its accomplishments have lieen notable. Thev have worked hard and successfullv to earn the monev to pulilish this hook, which is the largest yearbook in Hagc-rstown's history. They were handicapped in their money-making venture because of the smaller numlmer of home games for which they had the concessions. ln athletics thev have made a good record with fourteen seniors on the foothall squad and six on the haslcethall squad. Four participated in track, tour in liaselmall, and one in golf. :X large percentage plan to continue their education lmevond high school. The class has much superior ahilitv and will experience a large measure ol success after their high school days are ended.
