Programs, assignments, studies, experiments, recitals, commencement,-all of these plus many more are found in the yenr's calendar. Firmly We believe that education is the Composite of the experience of living. Fas- cinating is the art of composition: Start with an idea :ind snow ball others with the firstg if one is fortunate, 21 big fort of ideas might be the result. Themes, culled and revamped: photographs, singles and groupsq and a two day job with a competent photographer and fascination. The contract for engraving printing and binding file next in line. And then we enrolled as freshmen-meek, and a little green-but anxious to fit into the citizenry of the school. After a class party or so with Miss Dutro and Mr. Lester and exposure to shop, biology, English, etc., we entered our sophomore year. We elected Miss Har- vey and Mr. Heniser as our sponsors with the hope that they might give us more freedom. But alas, there were still the well organized restrictions. XVQ partook of home economics, agriculture, art, and languages along with better English and geometrical figures. As juniors we took on a more serious tone. High school days were half gone. Would enough credits be learned, would sufficient knowledge be gained, would we be fitted for a position in the community or for college entrance? Our sponsors, Miss Castle and Mr. Craw, had lots of work, for senior days were filled with all such major problems. The social side was more interesting: we were the select, if such could be the case in school life. Our carnival brought in its expected returnsg UTISHH was a hilarious successg we sold concessions, and thereby eliminated ad- vertising in the annual for the hrst time in our annual history. Without sincere expression, life would be a humdrum affair, a continuous and never ending train of drabness and dull- ness. Under the able leadership of Miss Morris, this organization has become one of the nicst active clubs of the school. LeL's look at their record: We're certain you will agree. With every student a member, the Junior Red Cross started its school year with a button drive and yarn collection. This winter they aided in the Victziy Book Cam- paign. Every month some of the members decorate the Red Cross window down town. They also knotted two baby comforts, made an afghang they fhave made favors for the veterans at Marion. See, haven't they been busy? But don't, get the impression they are over- workedg they had several parties during this past year. Miss Morris's Latin classes have found this out. This year seven students took up the task of plowing through year one. In year two, we have five stu- dents with Caesar in Gaul. They have had a study of ancient history, they have come in contact with some of the most famous personalities of the ancient world. It most certainly has helped them with their Englislh and their vocabulary has been greatly enlarged. Of course, it has proved an asset. to those who will use Latin in their profession and was even made more interesting by Miss Morris's perssnal experiences in the lands in which the stories took place. Miss Castle and Mr. Rudicel have been com- petently aided by the gym helpers. These helpers contributed to the factors that make a successful gym class and their aid has been appreciated by the directors. You can see from our schedule that our town is no exception to this saying. We had many an excit- ing game this year and our boys proved themselves good players, as you can see from the batting averages. We lose only three men this year and our next year's team looks promising. With the aid of our coach, Rex Rudicel, baseball is rapidly improving and should soon be taking honors. This year Knappy had a batting average of .500 and Gwin held a close second with .417. Pile TENNIS Last fall 26 boys took part in the annual boys' tennis tournament. The battle waged fast and furious until Tom Gatzek proved himself a champion. Willis Lannerd gave him stiff competition but bowed to Tom in the Hnals. We imagine, since both of these boys are juniors, that there will be close contests next year. Don't you agree? 239 GIRLS TOURN EY The boys aren't the only ones who are interested in athletics. The girls in the high school staged their annual intramural basketball tournament. The Senior class won the tourney for this year to make a perfect record, that of having won the tourney for four successive years. This tourney always affords a great deal of fun for all those playing and watching. We wonder who will be the victors next year? St'l't'llfJ'-Gilt' Prophecy There has been a new city established, since the 1942 Seniors have graduated, called Pickledillieville. Some of' the Seniors have set up places for homes and business. His beloved spouse, ANGE- LINE HAYS KNAPP, is in charge of all advertising for the grocery. Madame JANE FORREST has established a famous fashion center with the ir- resistible JANE DURBIN as her most featured model. BEULAH BENNETT has opened a school of swing. Her assistants are the noted pianist, RUTH REED, and. the exotic blues singer, RUTH BULMER. JOE LILLY is not in town now. Joe is thumbing his way around the world. His next adventure is to Hy around. The foreign correspondent, BOB HOWELL, keeps the wfres burning with up-to- the-minute news from Poodleland. Receiving his training from Parson's market, as a delivery boy, CHELSEA BORDER is now a postman. He always knows something about everybody for some un- known ? ? reason. ROBERT BROOKS is holding down the lightweight championship of the world. He has challenged BOB SMALL for his next opponent. Killer Small is known to be a very good trainer. BOB MEAD is the nationally known sports reporter of radio station W'A- C-K-Y. Mr. Mead attributes all his success to his interest in sports while he was still inhighschool. F01' some strange reason, SHORTY FOWLER is still running loose and giving all the girls a merry chase. Everyone if he will ever settle down. We wonder! Shrimp, how about it?
