Contents And enjoy all the In recognition of his twenty-seven years of faithful service to the Hagerman Schools and in sincere appreciation of the knowledge, wisdom and guidance he has provided to the students through the years, we dedicate our 1957 Bobcat to our own Superintendent - FIVE POINTS DRUG Roswell, New Mexico and Drivers Superintendent’s Message It is now nine score and more years ago since the founders of the Republic, rebelling against tyranny of control from outside, launched our great experiment in democratic self-government. During these many years we, as citizens of a mighty nation, have become more than ever convinced that a democracy is by far the best form of government under which to live, and live more abundantly. Our democracy has been so successful throughout these years and become so well established in its place in the world that we are inclined to take it almost for granted. Because dictatorship continues to be a major threat in the world and because so many of the world's population are still denied the privilege of a democratic government, we must be ever watchful of our duties and privileges as an American citizen. It is a privilege to get a twelve-year start toward an education and a duty to continue your education through your useful life. Your duty is to be well informed on problems of our community, country, state, national, and world affairs. It is up to this generation and each succeeding generation, those of us now living - as Lincoln warned - to make sure that government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the earth.
