Shortly after, the first drawings were made. The Gym was designed to conform to requirements of the Intercollegi- ate basketball standards. The final plans were completed on March 10, 1953, under the direction of Mr. V. Harry Rhodes. The Auditorium seats 1700 people and is built like a theater with an orchestra pit, 176 colored lights. and a telephone system throughout the building. At the rear of the auditorium there is a projection room, with place for three movie projectors and a slide projector. All the lights are controlled from one large panel just off the stage. The new Gym seats 2500. The Gym has fourteen baskets, and three practice games can be played at one time. The Gym has folding bleachers, and folding doors which are electrically operated. These doors are 27 ft. high and 115 ft. long, they will separate the one large gym into two smaller ones. The Gym floor is laid out for many games like volley ball, tennis, shuffle board, and broad jumping. This Gym and Auditorium waf: built for two reasons. The first is Hadley has always needed a large Aud. The second is that the Public High Schools have always needed a Gym in which to play their tour- nament games, and in the past have rented a gymnasium for these games. The Hadley location was chosen because Hadley is located in the central part of the city. for HER GOOD CITIZEN AWARD This cefti es that Carol une Suda hatmv been selected as the GOOD CITIZEN of the Hadley Technical Hwh School or the current year throuvh her demonstratzon durmg her entire course o the qualmes o Dependabzlztx Leadershzp Senzce and Pamotzsm as hereby au arded thts D A R GOOD CITIZENS CERTIFICATE Thls excerpt IS flom an attractlve certlficate axx arded to Carol by the 'Natlonal Soclety of The Daughters of the Amerlcan RGVOIUIIOD for HER WINNING POEM GOOD BYE MY LOVE He stood upon the xx atery xx ax es And looked mto mx uym face My eyes xx exe fIOXVllIg ox er xx 1th teens And gave out xxxth cheels I moved my laps to say good bye But I couldn t talk Oh how I dld txx, He slowly dufted faxthex axx ay I know that after thls long sad dax I xx1ll no longer have 1 loxe Glo1 1a IS a 9 2 and xxlote thxs poem as paxt of I'lC1 cl les xx otk ln Mr Gasslanders Enghsh Class The poem xx Ill be punted ln the Anthology of Hugh School Poetry 'ts a lesult of lt xxmnm a place m the 'NHIIOIIZII Hlgh School Contest held at Los An eles ofaral Szlda Gflfflll ,Margald v I I 41 -1 fi I I I , O ,J . ,. . . .
