The 10th grade Regents English classes took a field trip to a local cemetary as a followup to their study of Edgar Lee Master's Spoon River Anthology. Mas- ter's collection of free verse poems is about 250 people in an imaginary town who speak from their graves about their lives. The students each chose a grave to write about, took a photo of that tombstone and then wrote a free verse poem as if by the person buried in the grave. The poems explored what the deceased might like to tell the world. flgg W The Jazz Ensemble and High School Band presented a Pops Concert at the Stuart M. Townsend Middle School in November Students in the two wood structure classes again built an open storage shed. Later in the year it was to be raffled off to raise money for scholarships. This year's building project was unique in that the students began the shed by using a builder's transit to dig and set the concrete footings below ground. They then laid ce- ment blocks which became the foundation for the building.
